Northstar has this reort on their website:

"It's snowing!! Mother Nature is smiling on us with 10-12 inches of new snow and it continues to fall. Coupled with the largest snowmaking system on the North Shore, we have some of the best skiing and riding conditions in the Tahoe region. "

How is it possible for them to get a ft of snow when the rest of North Lake Tahoe is at 38degrees and 4 inches of rain? ITS NOT! Thats pretty low for marketing to resort to such messures.

dude, i would do the same thing, look at it from a buisness perspective, who are you worried about, a couple of baggy panted kids with season passes, or hordes of asians with millions of dollers to spend from the bay. i would lie through my teeth, because by the time that they got to the resort, they would have already had to pay for food, lodgining, and a ticket for the day
 
kirkwood has been doing shit like that for years, they said they got 12 feet of snow out of an 8 foot storm last year.
 
you know, i've got to give good 'ol sugar bowl props on this one, they're the only resort i've noticed so far that has reported rain in their little current weather picture thingie...even alpine is playing it off like it's just cloudy...yeahhhh, cloudy and enough rain that i've allready started gathering two of every kind of animal in tahoe for the arc i'm building.
 
hahah. Hopefully when I get back for New Years you've taken apart the Arc and made some fat Pow skis for 10 feet we get.
 
dave went to florida for sun and I went to Utah for snow. when we get back were expecting new snow in feet.

Don't forget Diamond Peak. I got an email saying they've got new snow and tons of fun in the sun on the way. Lovely.
 
Yes lets pray to mother nature to bring us some pow. So i cam hit it up on my new msp's which i am leaving to go get in about an hour.
 
long term? there are so many asians that its like a rotation that once you scam one set, a new group will come through and u just keep scamming...i doubt that they plan on making long term customers out of tourists who live nowhere near tahoe.
 
actually its the tourists who dont live near tahoe that they want the most.....the people who have to pay for lodging, dont buy season passes, probably need a rental car, and have to eat out at restaurants yo

Look guys, its always been this way, ever since ski areas first started reporting new snow and such. If theres a cloud in the sky, that means they are going to tell you there is snow.

Just dont get caught up in the bullshitting.
 
Yeah, Heavenly is always trying to say they are the best at everything. They built that Galaxy lift or whatever only in order to say they have the longest Vertical drop in America, and they are always claiming to have the most skiable acres, when Vail is of course the real leader in that category.

I like heavenly, but they are just a total buisness run hill, Go to Homewood, They dont lie if there is snow or not, no gapers, and your almost guerenteed powder for weeks after a big storm. Not the steepest stuff in the world, but man, that Quail bowl can kick your ass if you dont know how to ski powder, which is all you will find over there.
 
its vail resorts....they claim anything over two inches to be a powder day.

at least at breck, skistoned, and vail if it snows lets say 5 inches.....they will find a wind drift somewhere, put there measuring stick there, and claim 15 inches.

keystone got in trouble for it a few years back, not sure on the details.
 
every mountain does that shit... it sucks.. but seems like will just have to put up with it... Kirkwood is claiming 18-30" in the last 24 wtf is that? a variance of a full foot of snow? are they measuring their plow piles?
