its because we decided to try and limit civilian casualties. we could have just rolled in and carpet bombed the country for a good long while, or nuke it... game over. so its not like the capabilites arent there. its just that the international community already wasnt really hyped up on our going into iraq, and a massive bombing campaign a la tokyo or dresden wouldnt have helped our cause much.

Yes because people say they are killing citizens, and innocent people, there is a law that keeps them from firing unless fired on, or sometimes they do if they get extremely pissed, but thats mainly because he is a sniper and no one really sees alot of what he does.
 
one plane wont win a war eh? what baout the b17 and p51 in ww2? what about the fucking a10 in desert storm? the f-22 went up against 8 f-15 eagles in a training exercise. it took them all out.
 
one plane won't win the war, but it will make a huge difference. This won't be a nuclear war unless russia goes nutty, everyone knows that its dumb to do that and will pretty much end the world.
 
Warfare is the same! WHAT has changed!?!?! the planes bomb and fight. the p51 helped win ww2 becauseaced it was advanced so is the f22 and f35.

if it was seen as a more legitimate campaing we might. its not like you can state with authority that we wouldnt. i think its one of the tenets of jus en bellum... proportionality. it wouldnt be ethical to smoke the crap out of iraq with a force that was so overwhelming. you meet force with like force. which is why the nuking of japan in 45 was so controverial. if we were in a conflict with russia or china, we would meet them with whatever force we were faced with. and im guessin that if that included mass incendiary capaigns, then we would do it.

iraq and china/russia are totally different scenarios. so dont call me a fucking idiot. youre kind of stupid for trying to use an irrelivant analogy.
 
Did you know that Japan didn't surrender because of the a-bomb. It was because the Russians and Chinese had pushed their lines to the max. Just something to think about.

How are planes the deciding factor now??? Despite having better aircraft the US still did not win vietnam, korea, or the shithole war in iraq we are currently in.

And if you want to talk about superiour planes the germans had and were developing superiour jet planes to what we had in WW2. Why didnt the germans win!???
 
id like to see documentation on that. i just had to read a big article for my ethics class by henry stimmson (secratary of war durring WWII) from 1947 that detailed all the development and rationale behind the descision to use the atom bomb, and in the article there was extensive talk of how the only thing japan was doing was trying to negotiate a conditional surrender with russia, in which they would keep their conquered pacific territories. Japan still had forces of around 5 mil at the end of the war spread between the pacific and the home islands.

it was pretty clear that the only reason japan surrendered was from the fear of continued nuclear conflict.

How am I wrong, we had better planes in vietnam, korea, and this current war in Iraq and did we win ANY of those wars? Please...enlighten me as to how I am wrong on that lineskis.
 
Hes saying that planes didnt exsit in the following wars: Revolutionary war, civil war and ww1, But they did exsist in ww 2 and vietnam, you understand yet shit head?
 
first of all in korea they had mig17's and we had f-86's those planes were almsot exactly the same in every category. on vietnam we had f-4's and a-4's , we pretty much kicked thier ass's .look at the kill ratio for tha a4 skyhawk.

did we ever surrender in korea or vietnam? and in desert strom we got them to withdraw from kuwait, almost entirley because of the air campaign
 
No we didnt surrender in vietnam or korea but thats not the only criteria for if you win a war or not. We didnt stop the spread of communism which was the goal of the war...therefor we lost. Jesus christ lineskis how old are you like 15?

There is always going to be war, someone has to go and die, let the people who are willing go and do it. Lineskis you are a prond american go and give no less than your life for this country, and we will all appreciate it. and tell all your platoon buddies we said whats up and keep up the good work. No one is focing anyone to go and join the armd forces. Everyone who dies knew what they were signing up for. the air campaign was so successful was because the iraqis were using old cold war russian sam sites that had took forever to power up. by that time the sites were already hit. iran is different they have the capabilities with surface to air missiles to be a formidable force.
 
No one is getttin owned. Actually, did we lose vietnam? We lost 58,000 soldiers, where they had millions of deaths/. Not a loss.

Korea? The Northern Communists try to take over Southern Korea, last time I checked it didn't happen.
