They should really make one, something that sums up the first one and starts a whole new plot. The directors cut was kool but we need a sequel.

It would make more money now that it has a name.

it is possible too because of time travel, they could go back before the plane.
 
Me too, I'm so disappointed now! Although if they made a sequel it would probably be like most sequels (which means it would be sub-par). I'm content with the sheer awesomeness of the original Donnie Darko.
 
hey, how about writers just come up with a new movie instead of just making tons of half assed sequals. The movies are starting to become the same as tv.
 
They shouldn't make a sequel. The movie is perfect the way it is. If they tried to add on to it with a sequel, or god forbid a prequel, there's a huuuge chance that they would ruin the movie, similar to what they did with The Matrix.
 
I feel like whoever started this thread has not seen the movie enough or is really bad at understanding whats actually going on in the movie, because if they did then they would't suggest something as ludacris as what has been suggested here
 
mmmmm, could i point out Beverly Hills Cop 1,2 and 3.... I mean the first one was great, and the second was even better... but the third was just brilliant.

haha. Yeah but im pretty sure its alot easier to top a beverly hills cop movie than freakin donnie darko.
 
I just don't think a Donnie Darko sequel would be good for the reasons previously stated. Personally I'm stoked on the movie as is... pretty brilliant if you ask me. Now Boondock Saints... on the other hand, has been announcing a sequel for years and has yet to come through with it... I wouldn't mind seeing another one of those.
 
How can you make a sequel to a movie where the main character not only dies, but dies at the begginning to cancel out the entire movie.

It wouldnt be a true sequel in other words.
 
i think the writer should focus his talents on an entirely new story. that way it would be more mysterious, as donny darko was

but how awesome would another movie be? completely new characters and plot....

He doesnt die at the begining, a new universe is created as the old one exists

the first time i watched donnie darko it pissed me off because i didnt fully understand what was happening and it was kinda confusing.
 
^^^ the first time i hated it, then i was like, i need to see this mocie again and i watch it like crazy, each time i veiw it from a new perspective of what the storyline is
 
just a little known fact, teddy blank was never concieved, he just kinda popped outta his mom one day.
 
richard kelly is making TWO new movies actually ;)

and i dont believe there should be a sequel. the msg has been received and has left one thinking.

and god damn i love richard kelly.
