word. its the best ever. such an ill feeling. i feel like such an idiot for having resisted so long. its a whole other realm of skiing. after trying it for the first time i had to carry a friends pair for one run and felt wierd and couldnt wait to give them back.

ya i thought it was kinda gay before but then i tried it in some powder and it feels so much better. i dont think i would go no poles in the park but definitly in the backcountry and powder

sometimes i leave my poles with the lifties for a few no pole runs. all i do at my hill is park anyways but its still fun. i have alot more trouble no-poling rails but its still cool and feels hella steezier.

I think pole planting was a fad, and it is over now. Well, not in the moguls, but everywhere else. Wait a minute, pole planting is alive and well in the slalom course. I guess its not entirely over, but close.

haha word. I like my poles, I feel so incredibly naked without them. But once in a while, for instructor clinics we ditch our poles and it's nice to find your natural balance without the aid of poles. I dunno but I find with some of my students that if they've been using poles for a while they develop bad habits and improperly use poles for balance, and they have absolutely no balance and can't effectively use their upper and lower bodies separately or properly

im going without poles for a little bit because i dislocated my shoulder on a jump possibly caused by my pole. so i dont want to reinjure while im still sore.

No, at 3 1/2 hes much to small. Plus we're still working on "pizza" and "chopsticks". He is trying to just keep his hands ount in front to keep his shins in the front of his boot. When its time he will use them, then when he gets all the fundimentals down he can choose to use them or ditch them.

i like how much hate people put on forums like this, probably 1 out of 10 of you would actually say no poles are gay to somebody without pole's face. the other 9 would be too afraid of getting their ass kicked, or couldn't back their shit up because the no poler they're trying to bash to be cool would crush them in any event on the mountain resulting in some embarresment
