Doing a ski season- where??

Sup guys, first time long timer here, looking to do a ski season somewhere out west. I know this thread has probably been done to death but just wanted some fresh opinions. Looking to go out west after this semester, so I'll probably be leaving the great state of Michigan mid-december. Only places I've been to out west are in Summit County, which seems to get a lot of hate around here. But I do like it out there, and its definitely in my list of possibilities. I also like the idea of Utah, but really am open to anything. Saved up a bit of $ over the summer, but still dont want to spend a ton on rent. Any suggestions and experiences are great, thanks for the help.

If you have a car, you can get real cheap housing in SLC and have Park City one way and Brighton, Alta, and Snowbird the other. Plus you get a bit sicker of a "night life" in SLC as there is definitely more to do, as well as stuff like skating or whatever. That's what I'm doing this year, couldn't be more hyped. My 2c.

Taos ski valley. Some of the best terrain anywhere. a lot of snow in most el nino years (hopefully this one too) improving park that does need some work. i imagine rent would be pretty cheap in the town of taos. or you could to telluride, awesome terrain, better park, same thing with el nino, better ski town vibe but a lot more expensive. you wouldn't really need to drive at all living in telluride. i'd avoid summit if you don't like lines, gapers on vacation messing up the park( although there are a lot of really good people too) and powder that gets tracked out in one hour as apposed to taos and telluride where it lasts for days in the not so secret stashes and a lot longer in the hard to reach stashes. another option is durango then you are close to everything durango mountain resort, Wolf creek(TONS OF POWDER), telluride, silverton and the amazing backcountry of the san juans.

Depends what your looking for. Less people stay Wyoming and north. WY,MT, ID, WA, AL Canada. More terrain parks and people , CO, UT, Cali.

Also you if your looking for work, the bigger the resort usually easier to get a job.

summed it up pretty well. Durango is a sick town, so much gnarly terrain in the San Juans. Durango mountain resort is 30 mins away, Silverton is an hour, Wolf Creek is about an hour and a half, and telluride is about 2 hours. Also, Durango size-wise is awesome, not too big not too small. And Fort Lewis College is right in town, so there is a party scene here
