Ok, so who owns or has previously owned a dog? What kind are they, provide a pic if you could, how are their temperaments, stuff like that. I'm trying to get a dog, but not exactly sure which one. Thanks.

Definitely the wrong place to be asking for dog advice, do your own research, for your sake and your future dog's sake.

this is holly. golden retriever. about 4 years old or so. and she is fucking nuts. life of the party. wouldnt have her any other way though.

get a disco cat

srsly tho, all the black/chocolate labs i know are super chill. like they dont bark and freak out, they are just really kind animals. im happy to see them everytime

I want to get a Husky, I'm kinda nervous though. I'm living in a reasonably sized apartment next year and we are allowed to have pets. I would be home alot and I enjoy running, so the exercise wouldn't be a problem.

I'm mostly worried about money. I've heard a rough estimate is about $2000 for your first year including price of the dog, food, toys, supplies and vet bills. After that it is about $800-$1000 a year. That's quite a bit of money. I need to think on it.

Thats really solid advice, i have two dogs, the second one we kinda adopted and he costs sooo much, monday we go to vets come out -$450 dollars. We spend more money on our pets than the starving diseased or homeless. (let me know if im wrong)

Also get a smart dog, when i go over to friends places and they have dumb pets i always think why the hell would you want that. Get a smart dog like a Lab(thats an ingenious name like its like a science dog), or german shepard (smart enough to use as anti-tank dogs... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tank_dog), don't get some dumb mut that you can't train. Don't buy shy pets either their no fun.

your dogs got a sick coat.. if someone comes along and takes the fur it was me jk

almost a redhead, unique=sick

I absolutely loved (and miss QQ) my golden retriever Teddy. They're super fun and loyal dogs and are relatively low maintenance. I've also had poodles and bichon frisés in my home for extended periods of time and they were great too.

Honestly though, no matter what kind of dog if you raise it properly and take care of it; chances are it will be loyal, caring, helpful, fun, etc, etc.

i dont have a picture on the computer of my dog. but poodles are the best. my dogs like 10 years old but hes mentally insane, definitely acts like a puppy. and he loves snow. plus poodles don't shed, but he smells really gnarly sometimes, not the normal dog smell..

my dogs name is flash. He was never that crazy, and now he's doped up on epilepsy meds 24-7, so he;s a little slow, but you cant not like him.

hes a lab, and dont let him make you think labs are like him, my last lab was nuts, he's just... different

Shes a coton de tulear quite spendy butttttttt i got her for cheap and i can breed her and sell the pups for twice or more what i bought her for like 1500

but i can sell the pups up to 2500

got a 2 year old lab pitbull mix..shes a rescue and rules. Only think that sucks is if your living on your own like me...ski trips/bein away from home over 10 hours cant happen..so be ready to make sacrifices. or drops alot of cash at kennels

she loves the snow loves the water is way chill... well she likes weed she tries to eat it so that explains that but other then that shes the best dog ive ever had super fun and relaxed and smart and fluffy

australian shepherd: we had an australian shepherd. he was soooo tight. he was very active up until he was about 5, but after that he calmed down and was a great dog. very smart and fun to play with. will need a lot of exercising though.

I'd also reccomend researching labs, doberman pinschers, pit bulls, greyhounds, german shepherds (!), and greyhounds. dobermans and pit bulls might be generally feared, but they are GREAT dogs.

Whatever you do do not get a Husky. You have to be really, really prepared for them since they LOVE to run. But don't get me wrong, they are my favorite breed. I think the best dog to have is a mutt. They will always love you.

haha yeah man, darkest one of the bunch...thats why we picked him. perfect size too you can wrestle with him and use him as a pillow but still let him sleep in your bed and get him in cars and stuff. hes 11 years old now and just starting to go gray in the face, still super playful.

My friend has a coton de tulear its more of a cat than a dog. I don't really like it as a dog, his hates walks, water, and is picky about food, ect. what kind of dog does that? also it barks like shit when people are on the property.

this isnt my dog but i have one. He's a brittany spaniel, theyre hunting dogs, pointers. heres one that looks like mine.

i have a 5 year old heeler i thouht maybe when she gets older she'll calm down. still waiting but she is the sweetest dog and always wants your undevided attention.

Yes I know, I have been doing tons of dog research, it's just that I wanted to know what type of dogs people who ski have.

Yeah I have studied so much on Huskies before and my mom had one, they are so cute and they need lots of exercise, also, they DO cost a lot, get it microchipped, and I don't know if an apartment is big enough. You better have a park to go to every day for a few hours.

this isn't my dog but he looked a lot like this just with a shorter coat.

australian_shepherd.jpg

it's an australian shepherd. they're herders so they do bark but they are mad smart and really agile. ours was male and rowdy the first six months, then he really chilled out and never bit, but if you tried to get near his food he would rush you and try to tackle you before you got near it. i loved that dog.

Ya I don't think exercise will be a problem, just the money. I live on like the 2nd biggest campus in the country and it has ton of woods and grassy fields and stuff and I plan on running with it all the time.

I'm mostly just worried about the money as well as what to do with him during the summer I don't know if my parents will let me take him home.

Here's one dog; Corbet (black lab, 8 years old):

Before these guys we had yet another black lab named Tuckerman but we put him to sleep when I was in third grade. I fucking love these dogs.
