I am going to get a dog soon so I live in Idaho its kind of cool, I want a relitivly small dog such as a terrier but im not sure what kind.

jack russels are small, cute and very energetic...

I used to have a great pyrenees, they're pretty big though

and now we have a lab/rottweiler/retriever cross, she's medium-sized

i shot this pup last summer. shes ugly and has inflamed anal glands but a great dog none that less. small-med size.

when i met Timber here, in the middle of nowhere, i thought he was a wolf at first but then his owner came out of the hillside. he needs to be the alpha male or else he gets angry so naturally i challened him to a wrestling match. i tamed him and we rode off in the direction of pleasure town. very large.

i have a german shephard, she is big... but i also have a cocker spaniel... he's small to medium, they are good

You live in the mountains, get a mountain dog not an annoying little yapper. Get a Newfanland / St. Bernard / Pyranees / Bernese Mountain Dog. Hot mountain chicks with big dogs are mad sexy

well see I used to raise labs and sell them like the pure breed dogs very spendy good money also, anyways I'm sick of them shedding and shitting all over the house its gross to clean, so I'm looking for an active fun dog for myself, I hang out at the beach alot and go wakeboarding soI need a small dog i can throw in a boat or in a car or just throw in to the water. So I'm not looking for a girly toy dog fuck that, just a fun smaller dog(that doesn't shed)

airedale terriers arent small.

i LOVE staffordshire bull terriers. they are a small dog, with minimal shedding. also ive always found norfolk terriers adorable, they are small.

im not sure about the love of water though, i tend to think a larger dog might be better for beach going/watersports. cheasapeake bay retriver or something. orrrr rottweiler! great great dogs, minimal shedding, loves water.

they are about ..... 17 inches i think.... its smallto medium and they can retreive ducks, my dad is big into that.

im gonna go ahead and give beagles a plug here. cutest dogs ever. (note: they usually hate swimming/water)

ahh yea the lakeland is smaller! (i just had to look it up, haha) i know little about terriers. the airedale was one of the few i knew, a friend has one.

they look kinda funny and interesting, very active and a smart dog, I'm thinking if i should get a stupid playfull dog though, like a jack russel or a rat terrier then i could put annoying sweatersonthem hahahah howembaressing

i absolutly love my beagle, however they are definatly not for everyone.

ill list some facts:

-they take forever to toilet train

-while they are active when you get them out, they are incredibly lazy in the house

-they are stubborn! (they are not a dog that is going to obey your every command)

-having them off leash is a no go (although i can walk her in the forest off leah, but in town, no way...too many distractions)

-they are the cutest things, and they know it, and use it to their advantage.

haha given that, shes extremly cuddly, goofy, playful and fun to have. you cant be a super strict dog owner and have a beagle i think. they are definatly trainable for the most part....she knows the basic commands, sit, stay, come, down, crawl....but whether she will perform them when theres a distraction...thats another story.

My doggies love the water! And the snow. Border Collie and a German Shepherd Hound Mix. Sometimes mutts make the best dogs!

alright - i also need to pitch for my dog of choice - you need a Portuguese water dog and here's why...

1. they don't shed and are hypoallergenic

2. they absolutely love the water (they were bred to work on fishing boats off)

3. they are active and intelligent

4. they love the snow

5. a little smaller than a lab but aren't a sweater wearing type of dog

I pick my puppy up in 12 days... can't wait.

^ i agree with her. that seems like a great choice for you, from the things youve listed. it covers everything. and they are cuter than terriers. haha. (personal opinion).

Yep so sweet - I have a St. Bernard Black Lab mix, she looks like a smaller Newfanland, best dog in the world
