so i got a new puppeh about a month ago and she's always been a little strange about eating. she's a lab and most labs i know eat their food in under a minute. at the beginning she took like a half hour to eat with a lot of coaxing on our part. we tried soft, slightly wet, and totally dry food, and she still wasn't super interested. also, every meal about halfway in she goes and sits down on the floor away from her bowl, puts her ears back, and like sort of regurgitates a little ball of food and spit, and then instinctively eats that back up. she's not throwing up, just kinda spitting up. we tried elevating her bowl while she eats and it didn't seem to change much
so we switched foods gradually and the new food gave her epic diarrhea so we went back to the old one. she now eats in about 5-10 mins with no coaxing and is totally interested but she still spits up most meals. we've gotten really mixed answers from the vet, friends, and breeders as to what's causing the spitting up and if it's a problem or just something puppies will grow out of
so im jw if anyone on ns has had this happen to their puppy, she's totally gaining weight fine, she doesn't seem skinny or weak at all, she's lively, totally normal, she just spits up a little
she'll be 13 weeks this tuesday, anyone know what's up
i'll contact the vet more seriously but i get such mixed answers that i figured personal experiences would be the most helpful, i know a lot of ns'ers have dogs and know a lot about them, thanks
