Doggie help

hey guys, i know there was another thread on dogs not to long ago, but im in need of some different advice. i graduate college in a short amount of time, and my first purchase aside from a place of residence is going to be a dog. i have fallen in love with the thai ridgeback, but after researching quite a bit i discovered that it wont fit into my lifestyle. im looking for a dog with shorter hair, active, friendly and enjoys cold weather and above all being outside. please dont post sissy dogs that just look cute, im really looking for a companion type dog who will be willing and able to handle intense hikes and lots of physical activity.

I would recommend a Golden retriever but they don't have short hair. They absolutely LOVE snow. But if you want a short haired dog go to your local pound and adopt a mutt there are a lot of dogs that need homes.

adopt from a local shelter. you won't have too blow some serious money and you feel better about yourself for giving a dog a better home

recently i have been leaning towards this more and more. ive been told also that if you get your heart set on a pure-bred dog, and you finally get it, chances are it wont be as intelligent or friendly as a mutt. just like a trophy dog
and to people saying golden retriever, i love when other people have them, and they are such a nice dog, but i really have this thing about hair. i cant deal with hair in any way shape or form. lots of good responses so far, im on petfinder now and i dont know which dog i dont want. haha
