Doess anyone think solomon is a dying

my moms a rep and she moves lots of skis, i ski on lots of them and there at the top of there game ski wise. I would say no, they make some good stuff, and just because they don’t hire as many pro skiers doesn’t mean they are on there way out!

What a stupid remark only Rossignol-Quiksilver is bigger than Salomon, they have a market share that would make most other ski brands cry.

salomon just got bought by atomic last year, they are in transition phase. no worries, salomon will be around for quite sometime.

hells yes, they got sammy C, mike douglas, the olenicks, the dumont, and KAYA! plus their best skis ever in my opinion.

they have some kick ass skis and they have signed some pretty good pros, so i dont think that they have "to" years left

Henitiuk

Godbout

Carlson

Olenick

Dumont

Gagnier

the only other team that comes close is Armada. no death here, looks like eternal livin'$

The Dumont, Sammy Carlson, Abma, and I think CR....

.....they have a pretty sick team, i know there are more I just can't think of them right now.

guys salomon is on top, they have a sick lineup and just keep sigining, look at mike clarke, hes about to blow up...

Oh and salomon's boots are by far the best on the market right now...

At least for the time being, the graphics suck. At least they're straying away from foam cores and adjustable toe wing height (both just godaweful). But the company is huge and has a ton of money, no way its even close to struggling. After the Xscream, they drew in a ton of the older generation skiers. They sell skis and boots and shit like it was water.

They have some of the best gear out there, none should be worried about them finding people who want to get sponsored by salomon. Just give them time.

you are so rediculously wrong its not even funny. how the fuck could salomon be dying with mike douglas, the olenicks, dumont, gagnier and cr?

i actually laughed when i read the title for this thread, salomon is no danger at all they have tons of money and tons of know how. if anything id say they are the most secure company in skiing right now.

i really used to liek there old skis but now they have lame graphics but is getting a little better with the dumont but with gagnier and dumont there they can do no wrong!

this was interesting:

Herbert Hainer (CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board) for Adidas-Salomon said this:

The primary reason for selling Salomon was that, from our point of view, the winter sports

sector is not a growth market. In the past ten years, the sales volume of ski products,

including snowboards, has decreased from 7.5 million to 5.1 million units. That means the

market has declined by about 40 percent in the past ten years and we believe this decline is

likely to continue. Point number two is that manufacturing in the ski sector is still very much

driven by Europe. With the current dollar-euro exchange rates it is difficult to operate

profitably, and it has been that way for quite a few years now. And it will stay that way unless

you can realize synergies in the production sector, the way that Amer Corporation is doing

now with the Atomic and Salomon ski brands. Those were the main reasons for our decision

to sell Salomon.

With respect to the “cost” of Salomon, we sold Salomon for over € 500 million, after having

originally bought the entire Salomon group for € 1.1 billion. Now some people say that this

means we lost € 600 million on the sale. But the math does not work like that. We sold only

the Salomon segment and got about € 500 million for it. We kept the TaylorMade segment.

TaylorMade currently generates just under US $ 1 billion in sales.

So Salomon was dying, and we will wait and see what happens next...

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? This year they put out some of there best stuff possibly ever. The spk boot is a very progresive idea and the first gib specific boot to be mass marketed. Toss spk boot in the seacrh bar and look at the endless amount of threads, lots of interest from the newschoolers. The dumont pro has a wood core (thank god) and I think is what more park skis will become. It is slightly wider and designed to be mounted in the center. Not to mention their apperal has made some improvements this year, the loud, zero, and down jackets are sweet. Their bindings are probably the most if not right at the top for most popular used, at least thats what I've seen on newschoolers and local shops. Also look for their new fat ski coming out, it is going to be sweet. When you got guys like Mike Douglas and Mark Abama designing a fat ski it is going to shread. Speaking of their team, in my opinion Armada is the only one that is stronger, Rossi and Dynastar are close. Its funny that french guy has pro mods for 2 of those, and now rides for the third. Anyway they are strong as ever, I am not a rep and this is not a commerical or a plug, I just ride their skis, like them, and think they are moving in the right direction.

how can u people like those shit skis of theirs, i like how u can spend less money and get better skis than salomon's

you realise they aren't just a freestyle company? so you making assumptions about how well they're doin based on how many pro skiers are on their team is naive.

i would take the dumont pros, because i could get more money for them when i sold them for a pair of Armadas

Salomon isn't dying. In fact you don't even know what the fuck your talking about. Salomon isn't just in the freestyle industry they are in the recreational skiing, ski racing, mountain biking, rollerblading, running and more so no their not gonna die.

sold for $500,000,000 and their dying, hard to die out too quick when your worth 500 million. and 5,100,000 units sold is a ton of gear sold.
