Does wind affect snow fall?

We are expecting a big storm on saturday night through sunday morning with strong winds coming from East and I was asking myself which side of the mountain is going to get the more snow? Should I ski the west side of the mountain which is going to be hidden from the wind or I should brave the wind and ski more powder on the east side. Thanks a lot

generally the upwind side will have snow taken off of it and deposited on the leeward side, but i'm sure there are a thousand variables that can mess with this

also I'd say you should ask a moderator to move this to a different forum, this is Site Discussion so it's used for talking about the website itself and therefore gets way fewer readers
