Does who you know determine your progression??

I'm deciding on selling all my stuff and returning to BMX'ing after a 2 year leave. I been skiing almost 10+years and 2 in the newschool scene. I find myself skiing solo lately which kinda sucks because I realized this big bc hits in magazines I might not even get a chance to hit thoes jumps.

It seems like who you ski with or know determines how good you will be. I moved from the east awhile ago and don't know many locals. So I stick to the park and outside the park also.

Maybe its just me but while riding BMX it's way closer, I don't have to worry about my car stalling like 50 miles away from home. I know this is lame but I was just wondering what you guys thought.

idk i have a friend who has progressed insanely this last yr. he's kinda been pushing me and stuff which kinda motivates me but i also have a bunch oif ski movies like shanghai six and war and west coast boogaloo which have kinda motivated me to progress too. so i guess ur friends do. it would prolly be good to ski with at least one person because 1) he can witness ur sick tricks and back u up if people dont believe u lol and he can pick up the pieces if u fall. and like, if ur car stalls or somethin, at least u arent alone when it happens. well good luck bmxing

yeh i agree about about who you know helps with sponsorships, i hate when shitty kids pick up sponsorships cos they know the team manager and suck up there ass.

Skiing with other kids that are dirty helps so much. For instance I was 270ing onto a 30 foot flat rail that was 4 feet of the ground today, I would not have been doing that if I was skiing alone, I decided to try bcause kids I was skiing with were pretzeling this rail.

riding with other people, be it skiers or snowboarders, who are better than you always helps you progress... atleast this is what i've found over the past few seasons, it really gets you stoked to watch them do their thing and even get some tips from them from time to time... this may not be the same progression that you're talking about, but it certainly helps when you can ride with other people, especially if they are better than you

You can only get better if you push yourself and corny shit like that.

If youre throwing down in the park, you get noticed by people. then you can make new buds and crap. If you see someone who is killin it, go talk to them, be like " yo! youre killin it, wanna hit some rails?" If you have been somewhere for 2 years and havnt made a close click, maybe youre just being shy, or even worse... a total dickchin.

oh and you have to wear cool shit, if you dont look the steez, you cant hang with the g'ees.

Snowboard. I started out boarding, then took up skiing, and skiing taught me alot about boarding and vise versa. Really helped me.

i like skiing by myself sometimes. like you just kind of get into your own world and do your thing. but yeah if your not into that it would suck.

i would say just try to meet some new people. i also find it easier to progress when you are with ur friends, except when they are assholes. but on the otherhand i like to shred on my own sometimes.

dude, just be the chillest person on the mountain. anytime you see someone trying to learn new stuff on skis, go up and introduce yourself and be mega nice to em. try to ride with tons of different people. it does help to ride with good people though. when i ride by myself, i usually just do like switch ons and the occasional sw up. when im with my homies that are better then me though, i try 270s on and shit.

i like it both ways

alone you dont have to wait for anybody and you can think about shit

with buds you can have a good time and mess around on the lifts and you def get pushed to do bigger stuff

yeah just talk to all the skiers at your mountain... cheat lift lines to get onto the chair with good park skiers, and make friends! Skiing solo is fun, but having one or two buddies to ski with is better. Snowboarders work, but its annoying waiting for them to do their bindings everytime you go up the chair.

i ski with a lot of boarders, but its better to ski with skiers cuz like, it jsut is to see how they ride and to push them and when they push u its sweet.

i have no skier friends.

i suck ass at skiing compared to most of you.

coincidence?

nope.

here is the deal: i like doing rails and shit, but there is no real reason to bust my ass when i am alone. i skied with jibtastic once last season and did alot more that day than i normally would.

anyways, just realize that your crews are what get you guys to progress.

my friend just started the park and seeing us do tricks makes them push themselves more....if thats what your talkin bout it does help to not go alone

I ride as well, but I love skiing more.

No matter what, I want to do what I find fun. The moment skiing stops being fun for me, I will quit. If that is the case for you, stop skiing and follow BMX. Whatever makes you happiest is the best course.

yeah ride with boarders... more than half the people im with are usually boarders... it is possible to drop the hate...
