Does Weed Effect Your Performance

In like running and xc skiing does weed affect how well you do. Like does it hurt your stamina and performance in races? I really don't think it does that much. In my experience it really hasnt affected how well ive done. Thoughts??
 
Some of my friends and I would smoke a fat J before heading to our varsity tennis matches and still kick ass. I thought it made me a better player. I didn't get worked up over small mistakes I made. I also thought that everything seemed slo-mo. I could focus a lot better. Getting high and playing tennis is a winning combination.
 
hmm ive never noticed anything with physical performance but it really fucks my ability to memorize shit up for a good week after I do it.
 
no if you dont smoke every weekend (like me) it wont effect your stamina. i use to smoke and played soccer and shit and it didnt effect me. but i quit because my parents had me do a pee test and it came positive for weed. just dont get hooked buddy it happens to the best of us.

On occasion it wont hurt, but I noticed that it makes me irritable and distracted if I smoked the night before. I dont smoke on a schoolday or becore a comp.
 
I lose some balance when I'm high, so it's not so good for xc skiing. It makes me focus on other things though, so I forget how tired I am when I run. It hasn't affected my stamina yet- I've skied two 50+ k marathons this year better than I've skied before.
 
I smoked at least once a day the entire summer and I was able to jog a 2 mile hill route without stopping.

Anybody who says weed is bad for your cardiovascular or lung stamina is full of shit.
 
I used to smoke and bike 10 miles. It was my only way of getting away from the house and once I was in a zone I could not be stopped. If you eat it, it won't effect your stamina long term. Maybe mentally but everyone is different so I can't really say how it will effect you.
 
Well literally I literally mean, literally every kid on my Varsity lax team smokes bud. Most kids even do it right before practice and they seem to do pretty good. I like lax high cause I worry less about my mistakes and i think it makes me a better player. Ive also done 4X1mile repeats blown for XC at 5:45 pace so Id say it has little effects. Now if you take a 5 month break and toke every single day and then start athletics back up again, your gonna get winded but after a week of working out you'll be fine. I mean arguably the best athlete in the world and greatest Olympian Micheal Phelps smokes marijuana.

PS: to the guy that said tennis is fun high, your completely right. But what isn't fun when your baked lol.
 
i don't know. i guess it's very dependent on the person's personality and situation. i know that in high school i started smoking a ton of weed sophomore year and could not handle xc running anymore. and now as a sophomore in college i haven't smoked regularly in over a year and run way more than i used to just b/c i am way more motivated now. i would say it might affect your level of motivation.
 
werd werd...yahh i smoked all soccer season and ran the fastest 2 miler on the team haha...now im in xc ski season and its almost over and i havnt smoked in 50 days...that'll end this weekend!!
 
same. everthing slows down and you can visualize everything way better. I do find myself getting winded faster though.
 
i get winded faster...but on rails when i inline im a lot more relaxed..i dont really think about it, my aerial tricks are worse when i ski thooo
 
I was on varsity xc at my high school and blazed after practice, pretty much every day. the thing is racing didnt mean too much to me, so i guess its how serious you are, i went through two years not caring much and still doing well
 
when i play rugger while high, i make the best tackles of my life, and i don't care about anything like how hard the ground is, or what the score is, etc. i also don't yell at my team when we're losing.

 
same..i played varsity football, outside linebacker, and i would lay dudes out, and i wouldnt care how hard i got hit, or worry about messing up, i was relaxed and just had fun, and i started for 3 years soo, guess it didnt effect me to bad
 
Yeah i've been wondering this cause i run xc for my school and a couple times someone offered me to smoke the night before a meet and i passed it up but not anymore.
 
Dude i don't smoke but it i know people who smoke before events and they do better. Cigarrettes is what will mess you up.

They keep finding more uses for pot and more reason not to smoke ciggaretes
 
I'm a rugby player... never tried playing high (I'd get in maddd shit) but once I smoked the night before a game, and I felt pretty out of it, couldn't really focus... endurance was fine, but you need to be pretty focused for rugby. Guess I woulda been fine if I had been doing cross country.
 
the entire xc/track team at my school is made up of potheads. the captains are the biggest smokers at my school. they claim that by smoking before practice/races they forget to get tired.

endurance? yes. absolutely. anytime you smoke anything you impact the efficiency of your lungs. brains? ability to go somewhere in life? not even almost. i have a masters and a pretty god damn good job and ive enjoyed the sweet cheeba since i was 14...so i say no. anyone that says it makes you dumb and a loser was probably dumb and a loser anyway. ud be shocked at how many "responsible" people get down.
 
I can just focus more I went high too a couple indoor track meets and I found it allot easier too focus on the races rather than all the other people. But skiing I just get careless and lazy and fall like I did yesterday, now I have a messed up shoulder
