Does this make us look like a douche?

Hey M&A,

So with this years edit, I'm hoping to switch it up and lean a bit more to the 'storyish' side rather then just clips of spots. Hoping to go more for the style of Nipwitz Russia edit.

Here's a super rough cut of the style I'd aim for. Only 2 spots are in it.

Does the talking sound to Cliche, or just boring? Or doe's it work?

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

I've always been a fan of more talking in ski films, Probably the reason I think Candide Thovex's film is so good. Maybe amplify the voice a bit, was kinda quiet and hard to hear compared to the song.

I like it! I want to see more of the personalities of the skiers, and be able to see more of the story behind each spot.

It's really sick! I would make the talking a little louder but it definitely doesn't make you look like a douche.

It works it sounds awesome. Just one tip, dont end in a timelapse. You should do BRoll #1 then Timelapse then BRoll #2 IMO.

Loved it skiing needs more story and more theme to the edits. People produce edits all the time with great camera work and shit but they lack originality!

The only thing I didn't like is the song jack from the edit i made 2 weeks ago. But otherwise well done.

This style of edit/filmmaking I try and do as I find it much more interesting to watch and it becomes more appealing to others who aren't all that interested in the tricks.

It's definitely a good intro to an edit, my only criticism that its a almost a little too similar to Stept. The use of the black opening with the shutter sound effect and then the woosh along with the commentary and use of Alt-J seemed eerily familiar.

I really enjoyed the set up/take down and pre and post rail commentary though, important for people to know the work that goes into setting up, skiing and filming an urban feature.

this, also the edit was really kind of refreshing for an urban edit, definitely diggin the music and vibe!

like it forsure. ive always liked edits/movies with alot of storyline and cinematic shots. i loved the are of flight over sunny because of this, sunny just seemed like a big urban edit but AOF had a great storyline

i didnt watch the whole thing, but i loved what i saw. like a few said, i quite like when there is story and talking in ski films. really helps viewers with both skiing and non-skiing backrounds get a look into the culture and mentality as a whole. well done!

I like narration when its genuine. I normally feel that the absolute worst people to interview are sponsored athletes because they put on this bland "face" and sound like idiots while they try to appear normative and marketable. In your video it seemed genuine and not coached at all.

Wow! very nice shot, just ran in to your showreel today, pretty sick also. I think the shot looks fine on its own but the real test will be how it matches in with the others surrounding it, if the color grading is too dissimilar they could clash, just my two cents though
