thats the second pair of 4frnts i have seen do that. i appreciate what sterbenz is doing and i think the ski is sick, but im starting to get doubts about it. i just think the ptex is really soft on those.

i did something similar to my ski riding a box with a screw sticking out of it. i took it to guest services and the park and pipe manager tried to tell me that it is normal to get gashes that big. he didn't believe me when i told him there was a loose screw. i finally got him to fix it and he told me never to ride a rail or box again the guy was an ass. for people who ski at roundtop PA it was Jim Rasp .
that's a pretty bad shot. i would get it fixed BEFORE you ski on it again, so you dont get moisture underneath to ruin your base. The base looks like it's generally in bad shape, so i'd just get a stone grind while you're in. Also get that cracked edge (upper right-hand corner) fixed. i'm thinking $40 or maybe $50.
Picture a pasture open to all. It is expected that each herdsman willl try to keep as many cattle on the pasture. when a herder adds a cow to the pasture, he reaps the benefits of a larger herd. Meanwhile the cost of the animal - damage done to the pasture - is divided among all the herdsmen....... the herdsmen are getting nervous. putting more cattle on the pasture isnt helping anyone. (mental commons)
Quit listening to all these people who don't know what they are talking about. You need a Ptex weld which is more than just ptexing. Go to you shop and have them do it. Otherwise water will get in there and ruin your ski.
This year I hope to see more kids incorporating newschool with big mountain riding and getting out of the park.-Matt Levintal
its good to be roomates with guys that work in shops, I 'accidentaly' skied through a freshly gravled parking lot, base grind and a bit of ptexie, for the low low price of 'thanks man'.
if the gash was inthe center of ski you could probably get by with ptexing it yourself, but with the gash right on the edge you risk blowing out the edge
Believing in jesus is like believing in santa claus, once you reach a certain age you realize that it's all made up
they are 170 4frnt msps. i took them to the shop a few weeks ago and just got a full tune because there were so many gashes and scrapes on them, plus im too lazy to do it all. i think the bases are VERY soft. i was sessioning my backyard PVC rails and i noticed now i have like a dent in it. its just a depression in the base, so wierd. but overall the ptex worked hella nicely and hte skis ski perfect. the topsheet holds up really well too. good ski.
