YUMA, Ariz. - A sport utility vehicle crammed with suspected illegal immigrants rolled over in an attempt to outrun Border Patrol agents, killing nine people and injuring at least 12 others, officials said.

Five of the injured were in critical condition, most with head trauma, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The large SUV was carrying up to 22 people when the driver had tried to circumvent a checkpoint on the highway, Border Patrol spokesman Lloyd Frers said.

I'm really torn on this...

1. They were suspected illegals, avoiding getting caught, so that means they most likely were.

2. A Suburban with 22 people, are they stupid?

3. Now we have to take care of the retards and they are pretty mmuch guaranteed to be able to stay in the US mooching off us.

Well...Bush was going to make an easy way for Mexicans to get worker visas but NOOOO....it's BUSH so people said fuck no and now there will be even more illegals over here.

Basically I said Bush had a good idea and it would allow more illegals to come in...but they wouldn't be illegals. They could be allowed to work. But because it was Bush's idea, the idea was shot down.

wow. just wow. You have no idea how life is in mexico. Tijuana and the surrounding areas in Baja Cali., just a couple of miles from San Diego, a city with one of the highest standards of living in all of America, is riddled with drug problems and poverty. It isn't their fault. It's a corrupt government keeping people down. If you knew why people were trying to cross the border you probably wouldnt have made that statement. The avg. mexican worker makes 5 pesos a day (an equivalent to roughly 50cents), when just a couple of miles away they could be making 100 dollars a day. What would you do? And don't think mexican's are mooching off of America, the typical jobs that illegals fill are those that most americans are too proud to ever do.
 
This guys got it right. The rest of you are just ignorant assholes just born into a society most would kill for. Mexicans are practically garenteed a more successful life here in America than in Mexico. If you were in their position you would want to come here too.

Do you know how many hundurans would kill to be in Mexico? Did you know that Mexico is many times more harsh to illegal immigrants coming into their country than we are into ours? Did you know that the Mexican consulate in Denver tells the illegal mexicans here in Colorado how they can use our laws to take advantage of our system? It was on the news during all those protests a couple months ago.

I understand that people in Mexico want a better life here in the US and that their country pretty much sucks, but why don't they tske all that effort that went into the "a day without a mexican" protest and change their own country instead of taking the easy way out.

I have nothing against immigration into the United States. This is a great coutry, who wouldn't want to live here? Even I am an immigrant. I came to the United States from Canada because my dad got a job transfer. You might be thinking, "wow, that is incredibly hypocritical, this guy doesn't like the mexicans but is an immigrant himself", but the difference between my dad moving my family down to the United States and an ILLEGAL immigrant coming to the United States is the fact that we came here legally. We did all the paper work, we followed the laws of the country we were going to call home. We RESPECTED the United States and its laws. These illegal immigrants couldn't give two shits about the United States or its laws. Hell, the first thing they did in this country was break a law.
 
Much easier said than done. I'm sure you have problems with this country, but I can say with 99% certainty that you haven't done anything about them because it is hopeless. It's easy to tell people what you think they should do when you're not the one in the bad situation.

i dont have a problem with mexicans coming to the us..as many as they want, i dont give a shit. but the one thing that bothers me is when they cant speak english, so i think that in orderfor them to live and work here they need to at least speak english

my thing is why do we need guest workers in america? its hard enough to find a job as it is. i can see where if you lacked enough people for certain jobs then mexicans would be allowed, but right now its unneccesary
 
The main incentive is for corporations or building contractors to be able to maximize profits by having the cheapest labor possible, which comes in form as Illegal Immigrants...on one hand i love the idea of exploiting a bunch of illegal mexicans that just come over to pollute our culture and rob our social services...but on the other hand i want them out of my country

haha "pollute our culture." If you could only hear yourself. It sounds so cliche but America's culture is affected by every immigrant that came into this country. And let's not act like none of our ancestors came here illegaly. Recently in NYC, a friend of a friend who emigrated from Ireland illegally 40 years ago was sent home. The same thing happens to Western Europeans all the time in America.
 
Thank you for at least taking a stance and not just being a dick like Atlskier. The problem is that Mexicans don't have the power that we do and literally cannot do shit about their govt. We take for granted being able to protest. If you speak out in Mexico against the government, you could end up dead. Also, lots of agencies and individual mexicans are trying to make Mexico a better place. Last month I spent 3 weeks in tijuana working with a habitat for humanity like organization called esperanza international, and general feeling from all of those with whom I worked with was that they would love to be able to live happily in mexico and they would rather not have to cross the border risking their lives. That's where esperanza comes in, once you build safe homes you can create a community, and from a stable community, the govt will recognize your town as a legitimate force to be reckoned with and maybe they will listen to you because you can't kill an entire community speaking out against the govt. And i hope i dont sound like im preaching, im just saying what i know

not apply for visas

circumvent the checkpoint

run from border patrol

roll the vehicle

the dead paid the price.
 
well know you know how I feel when all these fucking idiots come from your countries to my country illegally. and our brillant government does nothing to stop them, instead they give em money food and a free life for like 9 months then when they finally stop giving them all this they flip out and expect all our laws to be changed for whatvere religious reasons they have.
 
I recommend going into iTunes and downloading the first episode of Morgan Spurlock's 30 Days. Its a free download right now. One of the minute men from the citizens border patrol goes and lives with a family of illegals for 30 days and it talks about everything we're talkin about here. I don't know how hard it is to come into the United States but it seems like it wouldn't be that much harder to come in legally than it would to cross the border illegally.

They can't just simply decide to change. As long as the people in power are happy with what they have or can't change the way the country is, nothing is going to happen. The people there are also powerless to change the government, so the immigrants that are supposedly taking the easy way out are taking the only way out. You can't blame somebody for taking a little risk to drastically improve their quality of life. And since you seem to be convinced that completely changing the way a country is run is a simple task maybe you should come up with a solution for them.

No one arguing your position has managed to asses the key point: How is this my problem?

Imigrant workers are necessary for our economy but at the same time are destroying towns along the border and else where.

Prime example Kennet Square Pennsylvania. In Kennet Square they do most of the mushroom farming for US consumption and consequently have a large illegal population to do the picking. They have destroyed the public school system there, sending their kids who dont speak any english to hold back all the indeginous kids that do. Additionaly, being of a poor demographic the standard of problem solving is lower (forgive my assumption, but find this hurestic assesment acceptable), community violence has gone through the roof.

It is not my problem that Mexico has fucked itself over, America no longer stands as the infinate beacon of oppertunity for all those oppresed. Their government is one of the most backwards and broken in the world but it is not the role of the US or any other foreign power to run in and save them. As broken as the government is the people are lazy (i know people who have lived there for extended periods) and the large majority seem apathetic about their situation.

If all the Mexicans trying to rape the US economy took applied their energies into improving where THEY live then maybe in the near future our two countries could greatly benefit one another.

You must get a visa and workers permit to work in the USA.

Illegal mexicans are just like "fuck that hombre, we're going to work in the US for free" and thats how they mess up lower pay job opportunities.

That's why Bush's idea was good, it would allow more mexicans to come in legally
