Does the deterioration in appearance of your equipment upset you?

I'm sure you all know what I mean. You just spent $400-$700 on some brand new skis and they look perfect. And within a week there are scrapes all over the topsheet's and sidewalls. The same goes for polls and boots. How do you mentally deal with this?

These scratches just show how hard you ride. There like scars basically, every single one tells a story.

Battle scars! Wear them with pride.

If you ride around with gear that is in perfect condition it means you're not throwing down hard enough.

i kind of like scratches on my gear. scratches and shit like that are almost like tokens of achievement, they prove that im tearing shit up

Each gnarly scratch and scar has a significant story in your ski life. Its what makes each rider and there skis so unique.

I like this mentality right here^ I always told my self that you don't ride on the tops of your skis.

There's so much force applied to every part of the ski, especially if you shred the park and rocky steeper terrain. If companies made skis to withstand all that without getting some battle scars, the skis would be so heavy and awful to ski and no fun. Banged up gear is like a badge you wear that you are giving it 100% when you shred. Skis are pretty durable and burly now and it's all cosmetic.

every time one of you little johnnys makes a post like this I want to punch you in the face, and step on everyones skis in the lift line.

When you hit a cycle of skis delaming after around 30 of the 100 days you ski you end up starting to get really pissed off when no matter what product you buy nobody can make a product that will survive to see the end of a season.

I haven't been able to try out on3p yet but i think they are the only ones who will make a product that will last a season.

I love the look of gear thats fucked and old as weird as that sounds. Don't get me wrong I love new gear. But it looks so sick when a guy rips through the park in all older fucked up gear and just shreds it. I saw a guy in Killington's park one time in a really old pink suit all ripped up and old beat up skis and he absolutely shredded and I thought it looked so much sicker then a guy in all brand new gear for some reason.

hahaha this reminds me! last season i was in the lift line and i ride without poles and it was icey and i couldn't stop quick enough cause i was sliding into the person in front of me and accidentally my tips went onto the back of their snowboard and they got all butthurt even though i apologized and like stomped there snowboard onto my skis i was like wtf cool! i don't care my skis are gonna get trashed anyways!

Skis are a tool. Tools are meant to be used, abused, and loved. I ride however I want, and if my skis get destroyed, that's just part of the cycle.

The first chip is a huge bummer. After that, zero fucks given (appearance wise, if it effects the ski in any other way I'm bummed).
