watch jermey jones in action...the man is one of the BEST big mountain killers ever...
to those of us lucky enough to ski the big stuff, there is NO diff between boarding and skiing, that is all irrelevant when you are staring down 6000-vert of 45 degree nastiness...
just like big wave surfers, tow in guys, wind surfers and foil boarders...it is all the same crew and attitude...
Seth is just as respected in boarding circles for what he does as Jones is in skiing circles

Snowboarders own Seth Morrison. There are probably 70 different guys who can do rodeo 7s off of big ass cliffs.
We are talking about bringing tricks to the big mountain, well snowboarders have been doing tit for 10 years or more. There's almost no such thing as a big mountain rider anymore in snowboarding, they trick off of pretty much every single cliff they hit.

there are sooo many snowboarders who throw insane tricks over HUGE cliffs, and im not talking backflips or 360's either, imtalking about snowboarders throwing cab cork 7's and such, they throw every trick they have over big cliffs,
watch any snowboard film, you are bound to see it get thrown down
skiers will eventually get there with people like pep progressing the sport...
and concerning jeremy jones (the backcountry version, not the jibber)
he is a very sick backcountry rider...

They dont compress as much as skiers do cuz they dont sink in as much as we do with their wider boards, plus if the landing is steep its not so bad.

what the fuck are you talking about? seth owns the world.
While it is true you do see snowboarders throwing crazy tricks off of big cliffs you have to understand that when Morrison does it he does it on cliff that's part of a gnarly line. 95% of the cliffs in snowboard films are cliffs they've already hit 2 or 3 times with a flat takeoff. It is so much harder to throw something off a cliff when it has a steep in-run and its your first time hitting it. I'm not taking away anything from the boarders it's just I don't think most of you realise how fucking difficult what guys like Morrison are doing.

True, but there are snowboarders doing tricks off of cliffs first time too. And the they actually land it, not land on their backs and then pop back up. Also they grab and are smooth.
Seth was fuckin sick back in the day, but he has no style. Don't get me wrong, his segment in ski movie 3 was epic, but you have to admit, that by todays standards, he's pretty gross in the air, and he doesn't stomp many landings. All the respect in the world to him, but snowboarders are better... We still own them on park jumps though.

Seth hits cliffs that he has never done before and throws down....Outside of the hard core shit J.Jones does ...the VAST majority of boarders are hittings cliffs* (not really cliffs, but jumps built up avove a rock) that they have been hitting for years....look at Mt. Rose or Mammoth...you see the same loading dock jumps built up every year....so yeh, they throw down hard, but that is not the same as hitting a 75-foot cliff on a firstd decent....
as far as boarders not hip checking...wtf are you smoking...all boarders do is land on their asses...on a large drop you naturally open up on a board and land on your heel side edge (butt check)...

When did Seth land anything off an 80 footer? The rodeo off the 80 footer he landed on his side...
The rodeo 7 he did land was about a 35-40 footer... and WEAK style.

do you know how much harder it is to land shit on a snowboard??? i see skiers land backseat almost every time they land a big drop. on a snowboard, thats really not possible, you have to land pretty much perfectly or else your not going to land it, or its just going to be way too sketch.

um theres a kind of a physical problem too with hucking on a snowboard, given the sideways position you're in you cannot absorb shocks as big as with skis, you will probably land leaning towards the mtn, therefore your back foot, and I bet that's more painful than landing on skis.But no doubt they throw huge stuff off big cliffs, Im just saying that they probably cant go as huge as Jamie Pierre and such...

seth is an amazing skier that's all there is to it. u can't compare him to a snowboarder. considering skiing takes fucking ages to be really good. Stepping up to big mountain would mean u would have to shred every resort to pieces, hands down. But throwing flips and shit is another level. I respect seth to the highest level over any snowboarder.

yea the kid is sick and he can do it all while seth is a better big moutain skier but he is far from being pro caliber in the park
Anyway it's easier on a snowboard to do stuff of natural terrain and to do big mountain.
Seth is good but most top pros in the snowboard industry are really good at big mountain stuff and they can do whatever they want. i mean come on Travis Pwas doing boneless 180 off cliffs back in the afterbang days...

woa, damn! ok, seth is a true ledgend in the sport. no one said he was the syliest, or most progressive rider out there. Seth is a ballsy mother fucker who charges harder than ANYONE. now that thats out there, yeah, there probably are snowboarders who throw smoother, sweeter tricks off cliffs. but there are plenty of skiers that do that shit too. Seth goes bigger than just about anyone (jamie peirre is an exception), and skis lines that would make just about any other skier or boarder shit their pants. but either way you look at it, snowboarding and skiing are so interlaced, its just stupid to compare them. they are both disgusting sports, and i feel no need to say one is better than the other, because they are the SAME DAMN THING!

I generally dont back up seth, not that i have anything against the guy im just not a number one fan - but devun and those guys are only really doing rodeo 7s off cliffs they have set up. Seth really is the only guy out there dropping into huge lines for the first time and sending this stuff. Terje and those guys will do it every once and a while, but it will be backside 3s or something. Jeremy jones doesnt send rodeos or anything in first descents too.
