Does Rub-On Wax Hydrate?

I have oneballjay rub-on X-wax and on their site it says it's good for all temperatures. Good. What I want to know is wether or not it hydrates your bases to rub in a rub-on wax. It's in solid form so I don't expect the pores in the bases to absorb it like hot (melted) wax.

no it doesnt, i personally would never rub on wax anything as when u ride that will get ripped off your base so fast.

just hot wax it doesnt take that long unless u dont have a iron etc

It will help, but only for a short period of time. It is good to have in a pinch. But nothing works as well as hot waxing by hand.

Thanks. I'll never stop getting my skis hot waxed. I was just wondering if rub on wax hydrates the bases a little. It's nice to bring in a pack and put on your skis whenever. A lift broke down so I rubbed on some wax while waiting. It's convenient.

no wax hydrates. It's absorbed into the microscopic inperfections of the ski base when heated.

No, you'll just be rubbing it onto the surface of your bases. The wax will be stripped away within a few runs. Get a hot wax and you should be set for 5-10 days depending on conditions.
