Does pvc mess up your skis like a regular metal rail?

whatever you do dont buy the white pvc piping. That is for indoor use for plumbing and stuff and is very brittle. It cracks right away and can ruin your skis taking chuncks out of the bases. Use the grey PVC it is made to last outdoors and not break. It isnt brittle like the white stuff.

well the only way that PVC can fuck up your skis is if you catch and edge on the front of it and get a core shot...like me for instnace just make sure you gegt on the rail

Get pvc conduit it the gray kind it works good ive left my rail out side sence november its the pvc is is great condition.

iv had pretty good luck with pvc if your edges are to sharp they might catch and you may smash your face on the ground..but youll get over it

thanx for the info, i just came inside from my first summer rail session, i grinded a 9 ft. flat rail on a downward slope, i smashed myself the first like 10 times, then i got the hang of it...th whole right side of my body is scraped up..but it was soooo worth it!!!

.........................................

i am going to have a pretty sick setup of rails this summer:

-2 8.5 ft. flat rails

-8 ft. flat box gap to 8 ft. down box

-25 ft. down flat down kinked rail

does anybody live in CT and would want to get in on a rail session over the summer, i'm just checking to see how many people live close to glastonbury ct and would be interested

don't fuckin worry, meatal doesn't fuck up your skis that much, it just dulls the edges, pvc does almost nothing

are you kidding me?... if you are skiing park, edge damage is all part of it. its why you have skis specifically for rails and urban, if this kid is going to be doing "summer sessions" in his yard, i hope he's not using his 05 06 tanner pro modles. why would be care about edge damage?

as for pvc sliding better, thats bullshit, you catch an edge on that and your fucked... i mean come on, its plastic. might as well stay to one mediam and just slide metal.

pvc is great for rails. I don't kow what people are complaining about. I don't have the ability to get metal rails. With pvc you can make the rail be whatever you want. And as far as cracking is concerned, you can replaced pvc very easily.

Btw, white pvc is not brittle. It is still very tough. I have had my rail for 1.5 years and I have seshioned it about 40 times, each beating the crap out of it, and it is just now cracking at one end. I even leave my rail outside in the rain and the wood will rought before all the pvc is messed up.

get pvc. it is good.

go pvc go

if u suck at rails then ya, but after 1000's of slides my scratch fs are still in great shape

when i buy skis i expect them to get beat up cuz when u do rails at mountains...thats what wears them down the most...and its better to not have edges on ur twins so u dont catch edges...some people need to get some common sense

great shape? are u joking. that is impossible. have u ever ridden a properly mantained ski? There is no way in hell that u slide 1000 rails are ur skis are in good shape. Mayb they are not cracked or ripped out doesn't mean they are in good shape.

seriously one of the dumbest things i have heard.

dude i have white pvc pipe and the only thing thats happened is that little shavings have come off from my edges, dint listen to rhis fool, and shit gets brittle when its cold, not warm

uhh yeah dude ive been tuning my own skis for 8 years now and know how to maintain them well. they are in great shape.
