Does Limewire give you viruses

i wouldn't recoment lime wire it downloads a bunch of other programs onto your computer when you dl it

id recoment frostwire

soulseek

and utorrent or any program that uses torrents

For the occasional mp3 ur safe. Just make sure it's an expected file size, and likewise a file extension that sounds like. i.e.

Song Artist - Track Name.mp3 4.5MB is good

Song Artist - Track Name.exe 125KB AVOID OR UR GOING DOWN!!

I'm sure you know that anyway, but please be careful!

Not trying to preach acctually paying for what music you buy or anything, but I have found that using itunes is great. No viruses( so i don't fuck up my comp so bad that its basically not fixable, or it takes so much effort to fix it) I don't buy songs that I only think I want, I get the full real version of the song I want, and if you know what you're doing you CAN get music for free, sort of, through friends who buy music as well.

alright, because i have been known to use it on occasion...

here is my process for figured out which files to download

1)check all the results that come up for an average file size, there will be slight variations depending on the program that was used to rip the cd, and the quality of the file, so take bit rate into consideration, but dont download anything that looks like it is a large variation in size (for insatnce dont download something that is 4 MB when the avg file size is 2-3 MB)

2) make sure it has bit rate listed, other wise (at least for me) the computer wont download it

3) check the number of source, the higher it is the more likely that its the right song and that its good quality, plus it will download faster

4) check the file extension (.mp3 or .wma are music, .exe is an executable program file (dont download .exe's)

all of those should be done, in no particular order, just make sure you do them before you download anything and you should be alright

oh and get a good, free firewall / virus program, avast is the best and fastest running i have found so far

ive never had any problems with it. except for this one time i was curios about limewire porn to i downloaded a vid and it fucked with my comp for a bit but our system took it out, cus its legit like that!

Double fail. P2P networks are loaded with viruses, have you seen all those 100kb files for songs when you search on Limewire or Bearshare? Even Frostwire has a bunch of them. Frostwire's your best bet for P2P though. Torrents on the other hand are generally legit. You tend to have comments from previous downloaders that tell you what's up, and even if you don't... I honestly can't think of a time I've gotten a virus or adware from a torrent.

Don't use Limewire man. It will download a shitload of spyware on to your computer. Not only that, but the network has become so damn corrupted with fake files it's ridiculous.

Download BitComet and use www.isohunt.com. Get used to downloading full CD's though, it's a lot more convenient.

not if your smart about it. just dont download anything that looks suspicious. file size aint look right. check for those formats. and make sure what you download isnt just one long run on sentence.

so say you download a song it will always have a dash between the artist - and song.

there are alot of viruses on limewire. but you can aviod them.

Yes but everyone who knows anything about computers would realise not to download those because they know they are viruses. Viruses on P2P networks are much easier to spot then they are on torrents.

Yes but often there is more than one file in a torrent download, so when you open the main file, it will open and use the virus file also...

personally i dont care because i use both but whatever...

any torrent site you use should show you all the files inside the .torrent file before you download. and you should always check them for anything suspicious or at least to make sure it really contains what you want. So anyone using any torrent site and any torrent client should be checking to make sure what they're downloading is legit. plus, one of the quickest ways to do this to look at the number of seeders and leachers if there are tons of people seeding and leaching it's likely to be legit, unlike limewire where if i remember from my days of yore random shit would pop up and be listed as like 5000000 people dl'ing which you don't get from torrents because you don't have to deal with the random bullshit. And most good sites, keep reasonable track of their library and will get rid of things that have been consistently reported as viruses or fakes.

well yes, it can. but here are my tips to stay safe.

1. never download anything under 1000 kb in size. generally 1000 kb = 1 minute of mp3.

2. avoid TITLES_THAT_LOOK_LIKE_THIS

3. dont ever download a prank phone call like steven spielberg, etc.

4. wma files are usually the bad ones, stick to mp3

5. if it looks bad, it probably is.

6. never download something that says "wicked remix" or "80's classic"

there's private sites you can go to for torrents that are invite only=not so many viruses. plus there's a bunch of shit you can do to protect your computer. i think it's more of a hassle to deal with the spyware of a p2p then torrents

also avoid any pornography at all. "huge tits first time squirt fuck XXX 12 inch fist lesbian" usually are no nos.

limewire doesn't.

some of the files on it do though so you gotta be careful.

why use limewire anyways though
