Does Jon Olsson Donate to Charity?

I know Jon Olsson is a pretty wealthy dude, but does he actually donate to charity? I need to do a report for school and my teacher is sure that no pro skiers do anything good for the world. Plus, i have to pick someone outside of the U.S.

The thing that blows is that kids can do their reports on foreign dudes from rock bands that haven't done shit their whole life.

I tried to explain JOI and how he pays for the athletes to come over and gives them keys to the city and duch but it was a no go. COrrect me if thats not right.

Could someone post proof, from some legitimate website showing that Jon Olsson donates to charity or helps the world outside of freeskiing in some significant way.

I'll do a report on whoever i fucking want. It's either i DO a report related to sking, or I do some boring fucking topic and lose interest and don't turn it in.

It wouldn't surprise me that he does.

I'm not all that familiar with european income tax laws, but here in the states, if you are making solid money, you donate for tax-write offs that give you more money back in the end.

Yeah! That's about it. I just waltched the south park where BOno had the record for being the biggest piece of shit ever.

Could someone at least tell me if the purse he puts up for winning is from sponsors (likely), or his own pocket(not likely).

The dude doesn't need tax write offs. He lives in Monaco like all other Swedish athletes to escape the ridiculous Swedish taxes. So if he donates, he probably does it out of the goodness of his double flipping heard.

That's right. I forgot about that whole Monaco thing.

Bottom-line...

Why not try asking him directly?

Yea Monaco has no income taxes I am pretty sure. I think lots of rich Europeans and athletes move there to evade taxes and launder money. Heh.

Bump

AND

I tried lying to her. I said that he donated around 10,000 dolars to some kids with cancer charity so she told me to prove it.

What I think is going to happen is I will have to point out that some 70's hippie rocker dude hasn't done shit his whole life, and to let someone do a report on some rocker and not a skiing icon just because she doesn't know shit about skiing is totally fucked.

I did try emailing Jon at that email before I made this thread, now I'm just waiting for a reply.

If anyone can find proof that he has donated before I get an email back I will definitely send some karma points in their direction.

ever heard of Stand Strong Again?

That's a charity. There are plenty of charity acts that skiers donate to. Tanner Hall just donated a ton of cash to some charity, search for "Tanner is the next classy saint" its a thread on here somewhere.

Stand Strong Again:

www.standstrongagain.org

i know ninthward did a bunch of fundraising for the ninth ward in new orleans when katrina hit and tanner also did something with the dream program where he skied a day with a kid who had lukemia or some other illness. theres also stand strong again and all the proskiers that support that fund. do something other than jon, hes weak in that area

Doing good for the world is relative. I think bringing innovation and mad style to the world of freeskiing is 'majorly good' from my point of view. Write it on that and then conclude that this assignment is bullshit because everyone has their own system of value and worth.

tell her if she questions you again you'll call up chuck norris and have him round house kick some sense into her thick skull.

I remember something about Sammy, TJ, and Jon donating their winnings from WSI for some charity, it might have been Stand Strong Again, but I'm not sure.

yea, they gave the money they won from the 2006 wsi big air to stand strong agian or directly to marc-andre beliveau. Jon won the event by the way.

you could totaly justify that by showing them some article found on either ns.com or freeskier.cm.

To off-set some of his taxes from his house in Moracco, and take a little pressure off his wallet after that Ferrari or Lotus or whatever he owns...I sure hope he does. Need that tax break.

one last bump.

Thanks for the help guys. However I still don't have any "proof" that he donated any money.

I may go the route of candide thovex or some other skier. If any of you can think of a skier that is not from the U.S. and would be easy to write a fuckload about feel free to throw the name out.

I will probably just ask the teacher bitch to show "proof" that whatever rocker douchebags she's letting the other kids do reports on have helped the world in some way. She's under the impression that so many people were influenced in the music community that they did good. she doesn't give a fuck how influential a skier was to the skiing community.

Anyways thanks for the help.

Just please, do not cite wikipedia as a credible source, ok? Your teacher, and I included will pwn your ass with a sandpaper dildo if you commit such atrocious behaviours.

dude fuck charity, just because you give money to people doesn't make you a good person. How do you know that charity is going to a good cause and not into someone's pocket or to someone who is too lazy to work and has ten children cause they fucked around. Ever heard of social-darwinism. It's pretty much fuck you if yoou can't survive, I'm not gunna help you cuz your never going to be able to survive. It's like throwing money down a black hole. Charity just fucks up the way the world works. If you want to do something good for society, help build a school or give money to a fire department or something, not to individuals.

how do you cite your research? "Jon Olsson is one of the greatest philanthropists of our time, proving pro skiers are generous. (Newschoolers.com member)" seems like a legit paper kid!!

I wasn't planning on it, plus as some people said above this, wikipedia and freeskiers snowpedia both have shittty information concerning athlete.

ANNNDDD

Jon Olsson read this thread and sent me a message confirming that he DID donate 10,000 canadian dollars to Marc, and he also let the red bull back injury organization the "Winggs of Life" I think it is, be a part sposor of JOI for Free.

So now that I can prove to my teacher that people can be both skiers, AND philanthropists feel free to let this thread die. Or not. whatever you want.

NOOO. I write a numerous page report about the tremendous impact he has had on skiing. Then I cite every page like Freeskier, jon-olsson.com etc. that I got information or photo's from.

All I needed from NS was proof that he DID donate so I could do a report on skiing instead of mother teresa or something. The donation itself might onlt be one or two paragraphs describing Marc-andrea's accident and why he needed the money.

there are plenty of extremely interesting and influential people in the history of the world you could do your report on that's not a pro-skier.

i think the reason you are having difficulty finding sources is the same reason your teacher thinks its a stupid idea to write about a skier: freeskiing is a small unknown sport nobody cares about. She is right, musicians have a much wider influence than skiers.

in this months fall line ( uk ski magizine) he was in an advert about carbon offseting and it was saying he did a load of stuff to help stop climate change
