Does Jay Peak lie about their snowfall?

They claim 428 inches this season so far. 20 km away at Owl's Head they claim 132 inches this season.

When there are no mountains ranges or massive water bodies, just 20 km of rolling hills and forest, can you really believe they've gotten more than 3 times as much snow?

Their elevation is higher.. but enough to make that much of a difference? Sutton is also about 20 km away and similar height I think (maybe 500-1000 feet difference) and they claim about 200 inches on the season.

Do they just measure snow in an area where it blows in at Jay?

The guy who writes the weather report is about as creative as Magnus's real ski edit. I've even seen him write "translucent snow" when it was pouring out. They also measure snowfall diagonally here.

That said the Jay Cloud does deliver and Jay usually gets 20%more snow than neighbouring mountains.

Jay certainly gets more snow than usual with the "Jay Cloud" and how storms rolls in and get stuck overhead but there is definitely some exaggeration going one. Likewise with most mountains

I figured out last year my hill would double the storm totals. This year they got rid of them though since they don't matter in the midwest.

They probably exaggerate like most places. When I went a few years ago it was snowing hard pretty much 90% of the time for the 4 days I was there, so I wouldnt be surprised if they do get as much as they say.

There's been many conversations about Jay exaggerating their totals so you are not alone in this thinking. However, from what I read they did get dumped on this past storm and all year. I need to move to Northern VT

yeah haha theyve gotten a lot of snow but something tells me they havent actually gotten 2/3 of the amount of snow that has spanked tahoe this year...

Look at the storm reports all over from this past one.. 53" at Bolton allegedly. The topography of jay (and surrounding areas) really plays a huge role.

i think it may be slightly exaggerated, but not much

Why do you use metric and standard measurements in the same sentence? That's the real question here.

4 and a half feet? I wasn't up there but that sounds like bs

they do have the ''jay cloud'' and for some reason always have more snow but every time i go i know not to take their report seriously, they always had a 25% extra

Never heard of a ski resort not lying about their snow accumulation/quality, their elevation, amount of runs...
