Does Japan have a park scene?

go watch like the line tc japan edit in season 6 or 7...in there they hit quite a bit of pretty good looking park - i have a question though, if park is your thing, go to breck or something (if this is about a trip). japan has japow and from one park skier to another please bypass a park when you have japow.

in the traveling circus episode where they take a trip to japan in seems the park seen is pretty good.

Definitely not bringing park skis to Japan this winter.
If anyone ever works anywhere in japan and the people there are like "We should hire a really dumb American to work with us in our park" let me know. I'm looking for a job over there. Not now, but would be cool to do a season or two over there.
Actually would be trying to get into the park to work, but really just using that as an excuse to check out some of this japanese powder. Worst case I'll just pony up the $$$ eventually and take a damn ski vacation. Just nearly impossible to get time off in the middle of the season, and in addition to not working, and probably not being able to get the time off, the trip seems like it would be $$. But it's Japan, so it's probably worth it.
Can somebody just mail me some Japanese powder.(No not drugs. Please don't mail me drugs)

Don't go to Japan if you want to ski park, the powder is just fucking top notch and you would be wasting your time in the park. Most parks over there a pretty shit because of the high snow fall making it super hard to maintain them. Just pack the fattest pair of skis you have and just get pitted!

It doesn't snow for the whole season. Come spring, there's a big snowpack built up and the days start to get sunny. Then, it's time to hit the parks. And the parks are pretty good and well maintained. In a few spots in Hokkaido, they have parks still going till May as the snow sticks around for so long.

not necessarily true but as much as id love to do a season in japan, its northern hemisphere. Turning down any park or grooming jobs to do bar stuff would crush me.

its all I know anymore. maybe I could do a season teaching lessons though. its been a while and not my ideal gig but japan.

I never understood why people do seasons and spend the whole winter working on their skis, instead of really skiing. I'd rather work in a city and do weekend trips rather than go to a mountain, and spend the whole time holding gapers hands or digging parks.
That being said, get a working holiday visa and hit up Aus or NZ if you'd rather ski park than pow. Don't bother going to Japan if it's strictly for park.

Its not as stupid as everyone seems to think. It depends where you go in Japan too. Somewhere like Niseko generally gets fresh snow most days so its hard to justify skiing park when you could be skiing pow. Plus the park crew usually struggle with maintenance when it snows that often. There is still a scene there though and its not that uncommon to see some of the locals or seasonals to be throwing down doubles.
However somewhere like Hakuba usually has a big storm roll in for a few days and then a couple of days of sunshine before the next storm, so a bit of park skiing is on the cards. A few of the resorts are Hakuba like Haluba 47, Tsugaike and Happo One have pretty good parks. Happo Banks (shown in a picture above) is actually one of the coolest and most innovative parks I've skied. It didn't look like much but damn it was fun

To each their own but just because something isnt your thing doesnt mean you have to be a dick about it. I like to build rails, I like to design park and contest layouts, I like diggin on something then shredding the final product. idk its my jam. lol at the thought that working in the city and skiing on weekends is better. you know days off? we still have those. At vail resorts they run 4 days a week. You have 3 days off to shred in addition to your riding while work plus youre probably already at or near the mtn not in a city.
Good advice about nz/aus although ive worked park in nz already.
also just because I dont want to give up my job doesnt mean I dont love to slay powder. its fine you dont get it but damn.

I'm up in Niseko this season and for park wise it's only opened for maybe about a month and a half at March, it's all about the Japow out here brother! Couple of my friends went hiking and said the snow is hip deep with lots of facials (resort isn't opened yet opens tomorrow and it snowed like 40cm just yesterday)

if you hate anything like that its fine, but just as you would rather work the bar/restaurant life and be free in the day, there are plenty of people who would rather work at the mtns themselves.
