For me that's just proving faith/believing exist.
That perfect being in point 1 is something layed upon us from birth, it's an idea fed to us trough our (for some) parents, school, and church (cause). If you agree with this idea (effect), this perfect being isn't anything else then a bunch of unproven stories told to you by other people who you have faith in.
I do not think something perfect can exist, I can't define perfect either (except when it comes to girls), and there for can't believe in something like that.
About the being afraid of death part, I don't think people who believe are per definition afraid of death. Like I said before, I feel it's for people who can't deal with life and death, and everything in between.
It's all a natural process, we all know it's going to happen to us and before we go we will loose some of the ones we love. Some deal with it and accept this fact, other have more difficulties accepting this and turn themselves to some higher being hoping to find an answer, or at least some comfort in this, for them, terrifying thought that they thereselves and the ones they love will be nothing anymore.
By the way, some people say that having faith and believing is the same as loving some one. Actually true love is a chemical reaction, a man and woman finding eachother acceptable to breed, YES we're animals and love is a sexual thing. That's why I don't believe that a couple can truely and honestly love eachother till they die, not loving eachother doesn't mean not caring about eachother or not finding eachother attractive, so you can live perfectly happy with one partner for the rest of your lifes, especially when you've forfilled you duty: your offspring!
