Does david lesh have a trust fund?

I'm guessing FD will end up a lot like Ninthward, it won't be successful but the investors will just never let it die.

it's called being hoodrich. he probably makes decent scratch off direct sales from his shitty outerwear brand, and spends every dime of it on toys. unless he's selling more than Saga (which I highly doubt he is), he isn't netting more than a couple hundred thousand in revenue, most of which is tied up in overhead/ production costs. he probably rakes in between $60-80k/ year, which is a lot more than he'd ever make as a "pro" skier, but certainly not enough to support the lifestyle he portrays in his self-indulgent edits.

that said, people that wear FD are skiings' equivalent of juggalos. as long as they think they're cool, it doesn't matter that everybody else on the hill is laughing at them.

Exactly! I saw a video that entertained me for a few minutes. And I saw milk being poured on titties. Do I want to emulate that lifestyle? No. Do I particularly like FD's outerwear and style? Not really, I prefer more minimalist stuff. But it's good to see some dudes having fun with whatever makes them happy.

well none of those other companies make videos showing how much cool, expensive, extravagant stuff they have.

not to mention saga seems to move a lot of their product. i don't see anyone wearing FD that often.

You kids here on NS are pretty on it and have a lot of business savvy, very impressive! You are right, Lesh hasn't made any money from starting a successful company (from literally nothing) that is loved world-wide by skiers and snowboarders.

You ready for the TRUTH? He's made his money from robbing kids from NS. We advertise on NS, which brings in all sorts of people, they come to the warehouse to buy dope gear at great prices, and he just robs them. It's ingenious, and hilarious!

Well... From someone who likes to wear dope gear and party at the warehouse... See you soon with money in my pocket

So because they make flamboyant videos, they must have some other sort of capital/revenue?

Can't people just accept that Lesh may well have started a successful outerwear company.

its because jeff comes from the depths of brighton. You think anyone would dare to be seen rocking FD in front of the cutthroat gypsies? Hell, Jeff barely makes it by there and he wears some pretty low key stuff

I'd like to see Saga make something besides a PC edit during the season. Some of their edits should be called "i ski the same rail daily". Stepp and Kutcher are their publicity.

Your missing factor 10 years ago is the internet and the prevalance of easy payment methods such as PayPal.

Nowadays, you can make some samples, make some ads, buy an ad package, put your stuff online for pre-order and fund your entire production run with the cash you receive from pre-orders.

Its almost a crowd funding model. The ads bill at the end of the month on running, and the invoices are net 30.

If you had the perfect storm of doing something hot, re-ordering just the right amount and juggling cash flow - you could easily come out of your first year with drastically more money than you anticipated.

Direct to consumer businesses are ridiculously hard to pull off, but done properly and with some luck there's a whole new style of business available today.

what's wrong with having a trust fund? all it means is that your parents (and most likely their parents) worked hard and were successful and want the same for their children. If and when I have a comfortable doctor's salary, I fully intend to establish trust funds for my kids. I'd rather invest it in getting them a head start in life once they come of age than spend it on myself and trivial physical possessions. a trust fund is merely a parent doing what all parents strive to: helping their kid to be successful and have a variety of opportunities open for him/her to pursue.

This is great, thank you for some reasonable estimates. First Drop is just not a sustainable company and it's my opinion that the company has poor taste in advertising and design. His ways of advertising are not ethical and not sustainable. Each year he is going to have to outdo himself in each 'Friday' video which is going to cost him more money and he is not going to achieve increased sales because his videos and ads only have an effect on 0.01% of the ski community which are teens who love 'gangster shit'.

And, yes, he is absolutely robbing the kids of NS who pay for his low quality outerwear at overpriced prices.

Its just jeliously. I'm pretty damn jealous actually of people with trust funds, me and 2 friends are currently trying to get our biz off the ground (no not an ns t shirt company) and we hit a road block because we can't raise 15k for our first run. Everything is in place orders with printers suppliers, designrrs, manufactures, but we just can't get the cash to finalize the order. So I'm insainly jealous of people who's family's make its easy to start a biz. But now I'm just bitching. If any 17 year olds on here have money from their parents and want to be venture capatalists pm me.

dude you suck hahaha

Even if he did, who cares? He's still a smart business man who is having a lot more fun with his life than you are.

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but this is his life story....https://www.newschoolers.com/readnews/42777/David-Lesh-and-FD-Exposed

Trust fund. Maybe it's not his. Maybe there's a silent partner. But someone has too much money to waste. That said, This Friday was a work of art. Lesh understands the Id of the average NS user better than anyone.

First, let me say that I've flattered that NS members care enough about my finances to create an entire, multiple page thread about it. Thanks.

Second, I find it somewhat interesting that Saga Outerwear takes the time to read through multiple pages of a thread about whether or not I have a trust fund.

And Third, to respond to the person who asked "What's wrong with having a trust fund?". That's an excellent point. There is nothing wrong with it at all, in fact I've always been jealous my whole life of kids who come from money and get certain opportunities afforded to them. I wish that my parents had been better off while I was growing up, I probably could have done way more cool shit. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) both of my parents are starving, hippy, artists. They did an excellent job of surrounding me with interesting things throughout my childhood, all of which involved being completely broke all the time.

*I'm

please ignore the typos. im sitting outside in the sun, and i can barely see my computer screen

There are already too many websites with all that type of content you would ever need on the internet. If you're having trouble finding them, well then, you don't know how to use the internet.

To be fair. Saga is an active part of the community that by and large supports their income. And I can get down with that.

I was referring more to videos of tits and things being poured over them. To which I believe there are numerous porn sites you can find such videos. But for skiing and tits simultaneously, I would probably just go with two separate windows.

yes, i definitely haven't skied anywhere else besides brighton in the past few years. nor have i seen any photos or videos of skiers. and i definitely have never spent any summers skiing and coaching at mt hood. definitely not.

i just see way more saga than FD. maybe things are just different in summit county. i avoid skiing there.
