Does board size make a difference

I started skating again this summer and I just fucked up the trucks on an old skateboard so im in the market for a new setup.

Its a pretty small deck though so I was wondering how hard it would be to go up like an inch or so in deck width. Is it pretty much the same thing or am i gonna have to relearn all the basics?

I’ve been skating 9+ inch boards for years now because I thought I wanted to be a vert skater. But nowadays I skate a lot of street and 8.75 is my go to width. Anything lower than that feels like I’m on a penny board.

I used to ride 7.75 for the longest time then got 8.25 and was like dafuq why didn’t i do this sooner

My Fav length is 34 inches. Skull skates makes a 9x 35” deck thats actually closer to 34” and i like the extra length. Bustin makes a 34” deck called the yoface Which is also good
