Does Binding Weight Really Matter? K+

I was looking at getting the Look PX 12 Jib Troublemaker or the Marker Griiffons, But the Looks are like 6 pounds and the Griffons are about 3.5 pounds.

So does the poundage really make that much of a difference?

 
i would not trust griffons. to much plastic. save your knees and get the px12s. and to answer your question, its all preference. being an ex-racer im very used to heavy skis and dis like super light skis
 
well bindings won't really affect the swing weight too much, but just in terms of popping, i feel a pretty big difference between px12s and salomon z 12s
 
How big are you? What skis are you putting them on? What will you be using them for?

I have STH 16s on my charging skis, which also happen to be 191s and are mounted -8.5cm from center. Obviously, I wanted something durable that I could trust, but swing weight and olleying are not part of the equation.

If it were my park skis, I might be a little more concerned about it. But honestly, the amount of plastic and the fact they are Markers on their first season would scare me away. Wait 'til next season to see if the Griffons and Barons work. PX is the safer bet.
 
Jesters seem to have been received quite well, theres a fair difference in cost too.

Either way, you aren't massive.. The PX's would be fine, and they are definitely reliable
 
Unless you have absolutely no muscle mass, then 3 lbs shouldn't be a big deal. I good, strong skier shouldn't have any problem with a couple pounds extra on binders.
 
dont get griffons ppl ive talked to say they are peices or shit, the jesters are much better, although a lil heavier cause they are more durable, binding weight dosent matter much its all personal preferance
 
i find that binding weight doesnt matter at all. its all right under your feet. i had reactors that were like 7 lb a piece and i they didnt feel any heavier than any other binding when i was skiing. people think that it makes a big deal that their bindings are really light but if all the weight that would be there is under your feet, you arent going to feel it
 
take those pounds off the body and add them to the skis then!!!!! lolololololololololol

also it really doesn't make a big difference, if you're gonna be throwing trekkers on and skinning, get the griffon, but otherwise it's no difference. for touring, the difference between a duke and a dynafit weight wise is extraordinary but not so much alipine
