Does anyone rate karma anything other than 10 or 0?

I don't know about you, but when I'm karma rating someone if I like them they get a 10 if I don't they get a 0. I don't understand the point of giving someone anything in between. I was thinking for simplicity the karma system should just be a + - or neutral thing. What does the rest of NS do?
 
I don't do the 10/1 thing. Sometimes I don't think they're a 10, maybe an above average member, so...an 8. Or, someone's not a total douche/idiot, 3.
 
you really have to piss me off for me to rate you low, most of the time i just don't care and don't rate anyone but if i see something i like or someone helps me out i'll give them a 10, but never like 7 or 8, no
 
ya for me its either 10 or nothing, i wouldnt bother rating someone low and im not sure anythign less than a 10 will def raise their karma. i think rating someone a 7 or something is stupid
 
nah i do it by all the numbers. i can have somebody at 10, but then if they say something stupid i might drop them to 7 or 6, or if they say something completely retarded i just bomb them to 0. it works the other way around too.
 
10's to helpful people, 7's ish to people who made ma laugh, 3's for stupid pointless posts and 0 for douches.. Yeha
 
About what I do, sometimes when Im bored I click on a thread and rate everyone I haven't yet rated at a 5 so help get more data in the system. I give out some zeros and some tens.
 
word. then if ive already rated somoene say an 8 and they say another thing i like, they go to 10
 
Always 10 or 0, going anywhere in between isn't effective enough for when I bother to do it. I'll never be like: "oh, this guy is a MEDIOCRE member, ill give him a 5". It's either, wow this guy is sick, 10, or this guy's a tool, 0. That's why I'm convinced it should simply be a + or - system, like the vBulletin forums do it.
 
i really rate a lot of people, if theyre good and helpful i give them ten, just below 5 i make the difference between each number
 
I rarely rate people zeros or 10's. If I see some one make a good post, I give them a 5. If they make more they get bumped up to a 6, if they are constantly and consistently making good posts that are informative they get bumped up to a 7 or 8. rarely do i give out 9's or 10's. they are reserved for people who truly go out of their way to make this site better for the members. That can be always giving deals to people on the site, always making incredibly useful and informative posts.

On the other side, If I see someone posting something that is iggnorent, obnoxious, or just plain stupid I will dock them a point, if they make a habit of it then they usually end up in the 3-4 range depending on how annoing they are. spammers usually get down around a 1 to 3. Zeros are a special place for those who screw over other members, and the nut jobs on the far right and left.
 
I usually rate people in the 7,8,9 range if i think they were really helpfull ten but if i even think about going below five its usually 0.

but i really hate how people obsess over how low or high there karma is. its pointless it doesnt mean anything. its just a number. right?
 
My initial rating is always 10 or 0, if I see a post that might change my opinion of that person later, I won't drop it all the way from a 10 to a 0 though, that's when I do shit like 8s, 3s, etc. I almost never karma rate people to begin with though, out of laziness, but when I do that's my system.
 
usually 10 or 0. and if i see something else they post like bashing on someoneill bring them down to like an 8 or if i see something from them that helps me or is funny or something ill move them up to a 5.
 
I only give out a 10 if I feel they are truly deserving, or special. Norm an 8, crap a 4.
