Does anyone know about snowboard boots?

Ya I know, I'm asking on a ski website. But I only know about skis and hopefully I run into someone who's knowledgable about both sports that they are able to compare the two.

I have a friend who's looking into buying snowboard gear and we both know nothing about it.

We have buying boards and bindings down for the most part, but what about boots?

I know how to fit a ski boot, is it essentially the same for a snowboard boot?

I really don't see how they can be too important in terms of flex and stiffness since they all seem to be pretty soft.......if it fits it works?

snowboard boots heavily sacrifice performance for comfort. there is no real laws of fitting them aslong as they are comfortable. but try and something that if you try you can almost touch the end and can do up for a snug fit

Here's how I sized my snowboard boots... usually when I'm standing straight up, the tips of my toes should be barely touching the end of the boot. Then when you lean forward (bending your knees) your toes should move slightly away and not touch the end anymore. Anothert important thing to worry about is heel lift. When you lean forward, you don't want your heel lifting inside the boot. You want the heel snug in the heel pocket of the boot, so when you lift your heels, the boot goes with your heel.
I guess it is similar to ski boots? Also remember certain boots pack-out more than others.
