Does anyone here still shoot film?

Been shooting around today on one of these. Full program mode rangefinder. Just focus and fire. So fun.

I was wondering how much it usually costs you guys to get your film developed. My B&W film I just sent out through London Drugs just cost $20 for medium quality images burnt to a CD, and high quality was $50.

Im in the same boat. It is ~$8 to devolop and $5 for standard CD and $13 for HQ CD.

I am debating whether i want to just get it developed and a CD (and what quality). Or get it developed and invest in a good scanner. Or wait until next semester or next year to develop it myself at school.

It depends what I'm shooting. Honestly, if it's just some cheap fujicolor stuff that I pick up in bulk, I'll take it to the rite aid down the street. They do an alright job anyways.

If I'm shooting B/W, I of course just develop on my own, and if I'm doing Slide film, or Portra or something, I'm taking it to the lab 2 blocks away from me.

Im planning on just taking it to a drugstore if it is c41. If my understanding is right, c41 is generally the same result wherever you take it. ( please correct me if im wrong)

besides the fingerprints, scratches and dirt that a drug store will likely give you. I would suggest a lab, they will be kind to your film!

Yeah I could do that, unfortunately I don't have a scanner, so I guess I'm stuck with the highway robbery.

Dumps aren't allowed in PYBP anymore, they just can't handle that much quality photography in one sitting. /photodouche

I've been taking a look at film scanners, and the Epson perfection V500 photo seems like a reasonable choice on a budget. I was wondering if anybody has used it or a scanner like it and how the quality was. I just shoot film on the side of digital and paying 25-50 dollars for every set is just too much.

That thing costs 225 minimum over here, and that's in funny Euro so that makes it 300$

I need to stop thinking about how cheap you Americans can get the same things.

It's a Dutch chain store. They sell 3-packs of decent-looking color film (200 and 400 speed) for like 7€ and they develop it for you for that price as well. Pretty fucking awesome.

If you're just going to shoot 135 film, get a dedicated scanner for that. A Minolta Dualscan will be much better than a flatbed.

Why is that? So far I've read mostly positive things and seen some really nice sample images but I'd like to hear your side.

They are slowly expanding to Germany, France and Luxumbourg right now.

Maybe in 2140 they will have stores in the U.S.A.

This is shot with their 200 ISO film, no clue who actually makes the film. it's pretty neutral and forgiving so perfect as a basic film to just have in stock at all times, especially for the price.

Most people on here van a V500/600, but then again, most on here don't really know much about scanning film. Get a dedicated film scanner.

people hate the v500/600 etc series because the film holders SUCK. Like terribly. I would definitely advise a dedicated 35mm scanner if you know you wont experiment with 120

What are the reasons other than fillm holders that you guys don't like the v500/600 and would prefer a dedicated 35mm scanner.

I've never noticed any real issues with my v700, although I also haven't ever scanned 35mm with it. It does make really nice scans of 4x5 and 8x10, however...

Sorry, that was not helpful at all, haha.

I can NOT get a good scan out of it. I used to get better scans out of it, but I think it's broken (I don't use it often and I baby it) and it won't focus at all. The scans are legitimately shit - like, I can't get a scan out of it that doesn't look like shit with a 1000 px long edge (which is like, tumblr quality)

It's a great flatbed though, for doing design work. It just sucks for film scanning, like, terribly. I know some people who have gotten good scans, maybe they have a good copy... But I've read a lot of people having problems with it and seen plenty of poor examples from others as well.

Plustek opticfilm. There are a number of different models, 7600 dpi or 8100/8200 are what I would go for. Might need to buy used
