Does anybody have some Look/Rossi WIDE brakes? By WIDE i mean of the 130 sort.

Yeah so i just mounted my prophets ( Thanks Giddgulf), but the brakes are a little used, and i think if i would bend them they would pretty much bust. So im looking for something already super wide and newer.
 
I'm not advicing to not use breaks, but if you crank up the din and assumingly your skiing in pretty heavy powder and just let the break rest on top of the ski behind you won't have any problem. just a suggestion
 
Widest is 105 for rossis, I believe. At least that's what it was for axials. Bend them.
 
yeah i need new ones. Im pretty sure if i would try to bend these ones they would pretty much snap. Ohh for those who saying leash, im running them on hills, i need brakes.
 
i remember one company had 130 breaks for their bindings, i think it was marker though. You're gonna have to bend them from some new ones which are gonna cost you upto $50 to buy but since ur bindings were pretty much free just go out and get some wide breaks from a shop. Ask if they 'll buy it for you
 
Alright Matt, I just dropped off my 130's to be mounted with Axial Race 140s...and it's true, the widest brake made for the Look/Rossi are a 105mm. I had to buy the wide brake and bend it out to fit the 130mm waist of the Prophets, and it was quite the ordeal that involved lots of cursing, torching, bending, measuring, re-bending, and more cursing. You might be able to get a wide Salomon brake and somehow fasten it to the ski, not sure though, never really ridden Salomon bindings. Other than that I'd say your options are to bend the wide brake out, or get someone to do it for you, or use a powder leash.
 
heat the brakes up and bend the shit out of them. Use a pair of vice grips to bend around it makes it way easier.
 
well im on the rossi bindings now, and they are mounted. What im looking for is the 105 width NEW brakes. I could bend the ones i have now, but im pretty sure they would snap. I have an auto shop, so the plan is im gonna put them in a vice and use the Acetaliene torch heat them and bend them.
 
i am almost certain that 4frnt makes close to 130 wide brakes for the deadbolts, im not 100% on this but im pretty sure they do and that theyd fit with the rossi's
 
no to mention if the ski pre-releases in the air, you got your self a big windmill of death.
 
If you've got a shop to work with, you could just get another piece of steel or something and bend the brakes you have now straight, and then weld in an extension peice to make them work.
 
No...the widest brake that is made for the Look/Rossi bindings is 105mm, so as I said, it would be another 25mm. Trust me, I put the Look/Rossi wide brakes on my Prophet 130's...they won't fit without quite a bit of bending.
 
finally someone said the word leash. people dont realize it, but for certain types of powder skiing, leashes are really reallllly helpful. loosing your ski on deep powder is the biggest bitch ever. seriously. ruin a day or a season depending on if you find it. now if your doing anything that miiiight have to do with an avalanche, ditch em. you dont want that shit hanging onto your leg as you try to kick for the surface. but leashes work wonders.
 
the biggest brake made for rossis is 110, so you could get that then bend them, but that doesnt leave you with alot of brake so id say throw on a powder leash and crank the dins and you'll be fine
 
thanks for all the solutions. Im getting some new brakes, and bending them. Ohh I just took them out today.....THEY ARE BETTER ON HARDPACK THEN MY OLD AR5s. They are soo light, i would have never expect in a million years how well these skis performed on the hardpack. They are lighter then my old Ar5s. The flex is pretty stiff, but they are pretty new. They are soo stable on all snow, like riding a cadillac.

The only thing that i found was different was that my edge to edge transition was a little bit slower then on my other skis. Oh and the swing weight was a little different to get used to. Its not that they are heavy, its that they are fucking long. They are soo fast and agile. Honestly, i think that if anybody has the Prophet 100 they donèt need to buy any other ski for anything ever. Honestly. These are only first impressions, and i will have some more long term stuff as the season goes on.
 
Sorry to inform you but the widest brake that Rossi makes is a 125mm brake. It fits over a Prophet 130 with out even bending the brake, just a slight tweak. I know this because I have mounted them on 4 pairs of Prophet 130's, 6 Pontoons, and 2 Sumo 190's. They do make a 105 brake as well that will fit on a 110mm ski no problem. Most shops only carry the 105mm and probably have no clue about a 125mm brake since they do not sell that many skis in teh 130mm range.
 
Well if that's true then I've been mis-informed. The widest I've ever seen was 105-110mm....how do you get the superwide ones? Go straight to Look/Rossi?
 
The last company you want to be taking advice from is Rossi/Look right now. We bought 50 pairs of the Superwides. If you have an older Axial there is only a 105mm for those. If you are looking for a Axial 2 there are 125mm ones for those.
 
that's all i picture with a powder leash... falling and getting chopped to pieces by a really big ninja star.
 
Sorry to bring this back, but Matt, I want to let you know that after having my wide brake hook up and rip out riding switch (and after trying to J-B Weld that shit, might try again though) I went riding the other day with a cheap ass leash system made out of Paracord, I liked it, no hooking or anything, I could go switch and not have to worry about any thing breaking or ripping of my binders. I didn't release all day though, so I can't say if it's bad for that, my guess would be yes, so just land straight I guess, and crank them down a couple notches.
