Doctor NS. What to do about a broken nose

So im 90% sure I broke my nose yesterday skating it bled for about 10minutes and swelled up really bad and still isnt back to normal. To everyone who has broke alot of shit you know what I mean by saying it just feels broken.

My question is what would a doctor do for this? I dont want to go through all of the hosiptol stuff (H1N1 anybody?) just for some guy to say "Yep its broke come back in 6-8 weeks"

So to anyone who has broke their nose is their anything that they do i.e. for nostril breathability

btw its not displaced
 
i think they will set it straight so it will heal up right and then maby get a face protector if u play contact sports
 
put pressure under your eyes, and if it hurts then it's broken. I banged mine this year skiing and doing a face plant, it didn't bleed, but it swelled up and I didn't do anything, it went down and got better after a week. But from what I have heard, they can't really do anything about it.
 
If it's out of place/ allignment, they'll make it straight and give you a brace to keep it straight so your nose doesn't look bad. If it's not allinged and it heals, it can effect your breathing and you have to ge tit re-broken. My friend just had this done and he said it was one of the worst things that has happened.
 
don't waste your time at the doctor. unless it's crooked as fuck they aren't going to do anything except see ya in a few weeks. realistically, if it is crooked as fuck, just set it yourself...or have your homie do it for ya...it's not brain science.
 
ya id go to a doctor you never how bad it could be i busted mine last summer and it turned out i broke a piece off the bone where it connects to your face and needed some surgery
 
why do people need to ask NS whether they should go to the doctor? is common sense at an all time low these days?
 
Because I don't want to waste time/money when I could ask a group of people that may have gone through the same scenario. I have never broke my nose before and I want to know what the procedure is. Kinda like this thread you made https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/457585/

To everyone else I appreciate the info Im going to wait untill monday for the swelling to go down then if it looks like it needs to be set I'll go to the doctor. I appreciate all of your positive feedback. +K
 
It miiiiiiiight not be broken, I ski with a crazy snowboarder and he was tailpressing the rainbow and I guess lost his balance and nailed his face off of the rail, we all thought his nose was broken, so did he. It wasnt.
 
Ya i broke my nose and all i did was set it straight my self. Sometimes you can actually do it better yourself because you are the one who has to live with it so you want to make sure its perfectly straight where as doctors just want you in and out so they do a quick job on it.
 
no matter what they say don't get surgery. unless it's severly fucking up your breathing or a major problem, rhinoplasty is awful.
 
dude you're a retardif you think you broke something, go to the ER or schedule an appointment with a doctor. i doubt that this kid has gone to medical school and could figure out if it's broken or not.
 
if it's not displaced it should be fine but you need to be 100% positive that it's not, otherwise it needs to be seti would see a doctor anyway, no need to take that risk
 
first off all fuck stick, it's not called being retarded, it's called not being a fucking pussy. I've broken my nose before (several times) and I know that unless it is crooked as fuck, they're going to tell you to ice it, take it easy, and come back in a few weeks if the pain hasn't subsided. We aren't talking about a limb here or a joint here. (Obviously if you think you've broken your arm, you should go get it checked.) It's your fucking nose. They don't give you a cast for that shit. Unless you need the attention of having mommy and everyone around you at the ER, and you've got a couple of hours & $$ to blow, save yourself the fucking hassle.
Also, it doesn't take a MD to figure out if you've broken your nose or not. If you've broken it, you know.
 
go to the hospital

i broke my nose, and went to the hospital and they said it was fine. Went back in for checkup and i needed surgery. I completely screwed up my nose and had to have surgery to fix it, but the doctors at the hospital didn't catch it.

Now my nose is huge from permanent scar tissue from surgery
 
I would get it looked at. When I was in the hospital for a week, I shared a room with a kid who had his nose broken playing baseball.

He let it heal and it was all messed up, then he had it surgically re-broken and set, and it wouldn't stop bleeding. The blood ran down into his stomach and he was puking blood for days.

Needless to say, he made me feel a little bit better, knowing I could be in his place.
 
tramping backflip to knee to face....very minor blood, hurts when i put pressure on it, but not crooked
