Do you think there should be drug testing at X-Games?

Obviously, some pros smoke, but do you think it should matter? I personally think that it shouldnt matter with weed, but other shit is a different issue. What do you think should be the policy at X-Games and potentially other big comps concerning drug testing?

steroids arent going to make you land tricks better. who cares if riders smoke or shoot up a little meth before their run. whatever calms them down

I'm sorry, but the only pro skier that could afford steroids would be jon, and he's too baller to do steroids.

ya there isnt really a point because it wouldnt really help to shoot up some roids im not saying they should but it wouldnt really help

Its not just that. It would be dumb because you need the flexibility to do grabs and you don't need to be very strong to be a good skier.

what do you know? EVERYONE'S probably doing meth, it's the next big thing. it gets you wired into whatever it is you need to accomplish in a hurry. i bet every comp skier on the planet is shooting meth...yah, that's it...

It would give our sport a more legitimate image in the world of professional sports if there were to be drug testing and would likely increase our chances of getting to the olympics if we could prove that we are determined and serious about it. So fuck the haters for giving this thread shit, it is a legit point.

Look at snowboardings first exposure in the olympics, the gold medalist was found to have been smoking dope, it was then dropped. Only reinstated 4years ago because of athletes proving they were hungry to be in the olympics.

But sadly, kids on NS think that smoking weed and skiing are a perfect match for one another, but as a pro athlete you should want to progress the sport as much as possible and if you had to stop smoking weed for a couple of month before hand would you not quit?

Seriously though, it will never happen until we get a new generation of kids in that are hungry for glory in the mainstream light. (sadly this means kids like shawn white)

I agree with flyingpelvis. Almost all major sports have some form of drug testing and why shouldn't the X Games? Also, weed can negatively affect breathing and can increase paranoia and anxiety in the user; the total opposite of relaxation.

most x-games sports are skill based, not strength based, so steroids wouldn't matter. if you did steroids and got huge, it still wouldn't help you throw double flips. it doesn't matter.

and weed is not a performance enhancing drug. no athletic value = who cares

I totally agree on that one and get tired of the "Skiing and smokin blunts" mentalety. This is something for gapers that dont love skiing enough. People should get high from their skiing and not from the crap they smoke

It's in no way essential man. But it will give us a lot more exposure than we are receiving now and that in turn would give us a greater mainstream light.
Surfing and Skating have been around for a long time and have gained exposure over the long period.
We only came about in the late nineties (twintips) so have only had approximately 10years to get known. If you look at the length of time it took skating to get recognised we have a long wait man. Surely everything that could possibly help us isn't a bad thing?

haha.

Well, I don't think there should be drug testing, not for recreational drugs, maybe steroids, but like others already said, being strong as fuck isnt gonna help you throw double flips.

As far as weed is concerned, it was made illegal for retarded ass reasons to begin with, and is clearly a pretty accepted "drug", that is much safer and healthier than alcohol, which is of course legal. I don't think what athletes do on their own time (smoke weed) should have any affect on a competition, and it would definitely be retarded to drug test and disqualify people for smoking weed. Even if they are high as FUCK during competition, it is in no way HELPING them, so if they want to be high, fucking let em smoke their 10 blunts.
