i got offered a job at stowe which is 40 miles away (i bomb in 30 minutes on a nice day) which comes out to be about $20 in gas . i would be working full time (35+ hours)... so that means 20x6 at least = about $120 in gas every week, $150 at the most. i was gona do park crew instead but only unpaid positions are left, so i would be working in the snowboard/twin/outerwear shop in one of the lodges would give me $9 an hour , , full season pass and even said i could peace during low customer times and go session for an hour or so and of course its always nice to be at a dope mountain, even if your just sitting inside selling outerwear to gapers , cant decide though . would def beat working at some place in town instead, even though that would be a lot easier and save me money and time

I'd say if your goin to get a job anyway, Y not? Sounds ballin

either that or dont work at all, cause i'd say that the the only thing better than that would be not working at all or just being a pro skier hahaha

i would use that as a second choice. unless you figure the free pass would even out the gas. is there a commuter bus or something you could hop on?

When and f you go skiing, would they still pay you? I guess probably not. It is a sort of stupid question, but still. Gettin to ski sometimes would be sweet.

im working a half hour from home at my ski hill for 7.50 an hour. i drive a ford ranger which sucks on gas. so you shouldn't think twice. definetly do it.

the free pass alone is worth it. 40 min inst THAT bad of a drive either, but with 35+ hours it is gonna be hard to find time to ski.

9 dollars an hour times 35 hours a week = $315

315-120 for gas = $195

thats almost 200 bucks a week with a season pass and a job that puts you in places where you could possibly reap some kick ass benefits.

no brainer to me.

do it.

what about tax? I assume $9 is before tax, and tax somewhere around 18%?

If that were the case then wage would be:

$7.38 after tax

$258.30 @ 35 hours/week

If gas is $120 that leaves you with $138.30 to live off per week.. things would be pretty tight.

What sort of pay do you get in town? and how much is the pass?

If money was really tight you could always get an evening job a couple of nights a week

im not going to get into the details.. but i have some side opperation that should earn me an extra $1000 a month

but then again taxes are really gay it will only be earning me around $250 a week from the job , but either way ill have to be working , so its just a matter of being around town or at the mountain. My rent is $650 and its hard to find a job in burlington that is more than $8 /hr

the pass would normally cost $735

and fuck no, I would shoot myself if i had to ride a commuter bus. an hour everyday I just got new whip, winter tires and a thule rack . Turn up the subs, turn on the heat , light a spliff and the drive goes pretty quick i guess

d amn i pretty much convinced myself here

why? buses are so much cheaper, you'd save hundreds of dollars in gas over the season. better for the environment too, if you're into that kind of thing.

he got a new car dude... i doubt hed want it... though it would save mad miles + mad cash... might be worth it.
