Do you ride with or without body armor?

if you're skiing without a helmet on a regular basis....you're crazy. The evidence is there.

Yes but I look cooler than you so who's the real winner here

I'm 17, I'm not a pussy and the only protection I wear is my helmet, I like it, find it really epic and it protects my face while tree skiing.

PD: I'm not saying you are a pussy, just saying I know what I can do, and if martial arts have not destroyed me yet with legs hitting me faster than 35mph I don't think skiing will.

Have a nice day!

Well, I don't see why you'd need any protection other than a helmet for tree skiing. Sometimes I don't even wear one when skiing aspens. However, that's not what I was talking about when I made this thread. I meant more in regards to park skiing because that's the place where people push themselves the hardest and have the most risks for injury. imho a rail will break your shin a lot easier compared to someone trying to do the same damage with a kick. Not really comparable at all.

If I hit park then I would use some kind of spine protector, ass protector (don't know the english name) and maybe some soft kneepads. And all of them because a friend of mine spent 5 days in coma because a rib he broke in a bar got into his lung. All snowboarding. Now he wants to start skiing for filming some vids.

Have a nice day!

a mouth guard is a smart one im gone start doing .

it helps with concussions ,saw couple dudes knock out some teeth this year .

I don't ski with a mouth guard but if I did, this is what I'd be using. I swing JV and Varsity lacrosse and am defense so talking with a mouth guard is usually impossible but the lower mouth guard helps so much with airflow that I often forget its even in. Besides breathing and talking much easier, it gives you a better fit and the same protection as a normal mouth guard so why not?

I see a lot of comments about park, but I would argue that skiing big mountain would be more important. I was at a comp and watched one of my best friends break his back hucking a cliff... It was a really hard impact and im not sure if a back protector would have even helped but I still wish he was wearing one you never know. I personally only started to think about back protection after that happened, I only ski with a helmet but am thinking of getting at least back protection. Any one have an recommendations for what back protectors to buy???

I use a Salomon flex cell and have zero complaints. I would recommend crash shorts too. They have helped me a lot as well.

Yah I have definitely witnessed some gnarly crashes this year skiing big mountain. I use the POC Spine VPD Vest.

salomon makes one that's pretty comfortable, i've worn it in comps and hucking for the last 5 years. feels like you're wearing a tight vest so you don't really notice it other than your first couple runs to get used to it, and it's warmer. mouth guard is also not a bad option, they're cheap, fit in your pocket (so you don't have to wear it 100% of the time), and offer both tooth and concussion protection.

I only wear a helmet as protection if I'm trying something new. Tricks I have on lock I usually just wear a. Hat

I use Slytech Naked, it's so great. Most of the time I forget it's there but it has really good protection

80% of the time I do. Saved my back several times going down on my back at mach 5.

Here what I use on a crappy short video.

Holy fuck you get even cooler every time you post. I want to be you some day.

helmet - I've had some friends die / stop skiing / stop jumping due to head injuries.

hip pads - I rock low-pro ones that are made w/ D30 and it's skiing specific, only the hips. so they aren't all bulky like every other kind of padded shorts I've seen. I barely notice they're there, and I'm super happy I'm wearing them when I occasionally slam onto my hip.

mouth guard - I had corrective jaw surgery, gotta protect the investment.

I've been thinking of getting a back protector, haven't made up my mind. I want to ski until I'm 80+, I don't mind if I look a little goofy now.

Gonna try out my dads old empire paintball hip protectors that he doesn't use anymore this upcoming season as well. They seem to be pretty good mobility wise but I might cut off the knee parts because they feel slightly annoying, will report back results later.

Skills trumps luck...always.

I wear a helmet... but armor is overkill. A mouth guard is a good idea if your trying something new.

Does bubble wrap work?
