I've read the tech reviews but I wanna hear from some normal people what they like and dont like about them.

my sister has one and loves everything about it, especially the battery life.

only down side is that it doesnt fit the ipod speakers or car adapters

Thats fine since i'm just using it as a personal music player.

How easy is browsing the web? What about typing?

browsing is easy cuz ever since the iphone came out websites started creating compacted versions of their site to make it easier on such a small screen. typing with your pinky is no problem

browsing the web is actually surprisingly super easy and it works very well. So is typing. First time I played with my friend's, I got used to it real quick. it's really really cool

i have one and love it. it's really good for music but i don't find the battery to be that good on mine, my old ipod lasted longer but the web is really dependent on the internet connection, much more so than on a computer, if you have a low signal it just takes forever, like much longer than a computer but if your signal is perfect it's reasonably fast, extremely useful. the typing is annoying the first day but then you get really fast at it and become really good, i could type really fast on mine with no errors after the first few days. it also corrects basic spelling errors and auto capitalizes "i" and stuff. all the features are great and i'm really happy i got it, it was also worth the extra money to get the 32 gb imo, now i can fit a lot of movies on also because watching movies on it is sick, all the youtube videos are such good quality along with the itunes movies
good buy, definitely get one if the iphone isn't an option like for me, i don't have at&t

I have no use for a cellphone in general so this seems like the perfect ipod upgrade for me since it has wifi (i find this super helpful) and a keyboard (finally Notes are a useful feature on ipods)

I'm looking for a new mp3 because my ipod video is beat. I like the touch, but $500 for 32 gb is so expensive, especially when a 80 gb zune is $250. Do you guys think apple will lower the prices soon, with the new iphone coming out?

the new iphone comes out july 11 and it's 199 for 8gb but the service costs 80 bucks a month
the 32 is expensive but just save up and buy it, it's totally worth it, i just saved money for a long time and i'm glad i put it into this, it's not a regrettable way to spend that kind of money, i mean it's like buying a mini computer, the things unbelievable, you can go on ns while taking a shit, although it can be done with a computer it's nicer with this, you can check your e-mail, look at the weather, and on top of all that it's actually mostly an ipod, i keep forgetting that about mine
zune's are in no way as cool as touches

yeah i have one and love it. videos and web browsing on it is really cool and easy. when you type with the touch horizontally its very easy too and you can use both of your thumbs like i do without miss hitting keys, its basically like one of the new flip phones with a full keyboard but 3 times bigger

Anyone wanna buy my 4th Gen ipod w/ heavu duty aluminium case then :P

If i can move this one i'll be pickign up an 8gb i think. I dont need more then 3000ish songs....

word. moneys not an issue, I just want to be sure its worth it. I'm gonna look into it, thanks

thats what i thought about too so i bought a zune. i honestly love my zune, it owns the ipod classic, in my opinion.

size isnt an issue. I'll just add the music i listen too. 8gb is plenty + youtube video and im set.

its sickk i have an 8G and its deff worth it i love being able to watch movies on its big screen and checking the internet deff worth buying

i had the 8g with 1200+ songs on it and i only had 1.6g left and i was afraid since im constantly downloading music that im gonna fill it up quick so i exchanged for the 16g.

and mine fits all the same players i had for my regular ipod including my speakers and my car adapter. its pretty much the same size as the ipod classic just with a screen taking up the whole surface.

i really do like mine though. the only thing is it cant play videos from websites. of course you can always hack it and find a way around that but then your warrenty is void.

i havnt hacked mine yet but you should talk to ender about it. he hacked his ipod a while ago and made the start up logo and armada sign.

but adobe also stated a while ago that they were coming out with a version for ipods

only problem with it is, if u ski with it and try to adlust the volume or something with yur glove on, it wont work

this is my itunes library screenshot
it just depends where you get your music and how long it is and all that shit

it is REALLY easy to jailbreak them. i did it for my cousin and we got it done in like 2 hours tops. basically just google it, i think ipodtouchfans.com or something like that will tell you. after you read how to do it, youtube it and you'll have step by step instructions. then you install the stuff right from your touch.

best thing ever. i love everything about mine. but you must jailbreak it(hack). look up ipodtouchfans.com on google and it will give you everything you need to know on hacking

I was playing with a touch yesterday at the Apple store. It is pretty sweet. WiFi wasn't as fast as I expected, but it couldh have been just the connection. I tried browsing NS with it, it worked ok, but I couldn't figure out how to reply to anything (although I could log in). The typing is only so-so. Nothing like my blackberry, but then again, this is a touch. I was mainly trying it out to see what an iPhone would kinda feel like. I'd probably get used to the typing, but anyone coming from a blackberry QWERTY keyboard definitely has reason to complain. Everything works super slick though, google maps, stocks, weather, youtube is good too, better than I thought.

you can only reply to messages not threads cuz for threads the reply box is made with flash which ipods do not have yet. and wifi is alot faster other places just the apple stores have what like 9 ipods/9 iphones/45 computers all connected to the same network

No flash support?

Wow...thats kinda shitty...any chance of seeing this in a software update soon or can this be added via a hack as well?

we (the ipod touch softwear developers out there) have been trying for 6 months to add flash. but that would require us writing a whole new firmwear(operating system). but adobe is writing flash for the ipod/iphone that would be availble to download through the app store in firmwear 2.0 when that is released. but that will have to get approved by apple and steave jobs hates flash so it is still up in the air.

my sisters have the 8gb, ive used them tehy are super sick, i have a 30gb zune, i love it, but with my new mac im getting a ipod touch for free, so im keeping that and selling the zune.

Why does everyone need to have their entire library on your ipod? Just change up your list every once in a while, you're not going to listen to 80 gb of music in a day. I have way over 80gb of music and I'm extremely happy having an 8gb ipod, and I've never once listened to everything on it or wished that I had other shit on it.

yeah Adobe is working hard at it but it doesn't look like it will make it out with the 2.0 software in a couple weeks. It is only a matter of time however, so I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.

ya and when adobe last spoke about it they said they have been have problems when they take it off the emulator on a computer and put it on an iphone. if we get it it would be around november as of what adobe is thinking

This video is a scratch test done by PC magazine

Overall

I

would say 9.5, because really, theres absolutly nothing to critique it

about. It a beautifully designed machine, and if hacked can do amazing

things (so many amazing apps and games can be added, a MUST), as well

just the technology alone makes it a great gadget to have. The price is

my only concern, unless your a hard core music/video junkie, i would

try find something off of ebay or Craigslist but this product wont let

you down.

Pippin

Performance

Honestly,

this thing is leading technology, yes 16-gb is measly compared to the

classic that came out, but you can still pack a good 3,000 songs and a

ton of movies, more than enough to keep you interested on a long road

trip. Battery performs wonders, i have ran it up to 20 hrs of

continuous audio. Wifi built in really makes this item a beauty, such

great GUI, and flows so easily.

Design

Bringing

sexy back, h-core, this gadget doesn't disappoint, the sleek extra

glossy matte covering, makes it worthy of handing on the wall. But

seriously, hand it on your neck, its that stylish. With a touch

display, it makes it fun to flip though photos, or album art to find an

artist.

Value

i

bought my 16gb off Craigslist.com in perfect shape for about 175-225

off of retail, so i got a supper deal. Personally im not sure i would

buy it for retail value, as i can't justify paying that much money for

16gb, but the touching technology is well worth it.

Durability

See the video up top^ for PC magazine scratch test. Mine has not faulted and I've had it since March.

Quality

Shows

no signs of slowing down any time soon, battery still gives close to

100% of a charge. Very durable and screen does not easily scratch. I

had a case on it for the first month, but then got tired of the look

and ever since been using it NAKED, looks way nicer, and it hasn't hurt

it. Your can see a scratch test done by PC magazine and it does

remarkably well.

Thats my review ENJOY

The fact that we'll likely have to pay for Flash support is fucking lame.

Apple makes beautiful products but they are fucking retarded sometimes when it comes to real world applications (like no copy and paste for iphones...)

Apple should just design super fly products with up to date hardware but nothing on the software side. Lets 3rd party developers handle that shit!

i love my iPod Touch... so much so that when the new iPhone comes out, i'm grabbing one to replace my Razr, which just recently went for a drunken swim with me.

totally agree, but they have some pretty cool aps coming out. Like super monkey balls, who wouln't want to play that haha

Knowing Apple though you wont be able to turn left playing the game which will require you to go to the app store to buy the ability :P

what it really comes down to is the bit quality.i have 500 songs and im using more than 4 gb already, that's because they are all 320kbps while most people have them at 128kpbs. you can fit tones of songs onto a nano, but they'll sound like shit.
