Do you live in Vermont? And drive a Subaru?

If so, fuck off and learn to drive your shit box in the snow. For a state where it snows, and prides itself on these little AWD turd muffin cars, you guys sure can't drive them. Never seen so many into ditches and power poles and it hasn't even "snowed" yet.

Jeff Gordon out!

Chances are it is ice, not snow.

Yeah! *gets into mini cooper* get those turd muffins off the road and make way for a real car *30 mph gust tips over car*

Vast majority of AWD cars can handle VT roads perfectly fine. I see more suburbans and what not from tourists / vacationers in accidents than VT plates who think they are indestructible in any weather.

It's generally the idiots with summer/shitty old tires that slide off the road. An AWD vehicle with bad tires is far worse off in the snow/ice than a FWD car with bad tires.

And in a state where roughly 75% of the cars on the road are Subarus, it only makes sense that a fair amount of the cars in accidents are Subarus.

Definitely ice and unless you're driving a tank you'll slide

Good thing I pretty much drive a tank then! Out of my way Prius with Hilary sticker on it.

Hoorahh out!

Subaru = Colorado Cockroach

I love seeing them in the ditch! People seem to forget that having AWD/4WD only helps going UP hills, and does nothing when going DOWN hills.

Get a Kia Sorrento if you want something that costs the same as a subi but its bigger and beefier yet still has an eco friendly 4 cylinder I LOVE mine.

Probably a troll but I will bite.

Trucks probably fair worse than a Subaru in snow, especially big lifted ones.

Snow I do great. Ice I struggle like a flat lander driving in flurries.

I don't doubt that, but an AWD Subaru will out perform any lifted truck, with or without snow tires, just due to center of gravity alone.

I can attest this this, I drove an 05 legacy sedan for 8 years and that fucker would crush on snow and ice. Some good snow tires with my extensive experience and knowledge of driving in the snow I could go anywhere in any storm.

Now I have a 15 tacoma (not the new body) and so far its been solid for me, but i definitely dont feel as grounded as my subi, but like you said its just due to the center of gravity. I only have all seasons on my truck because i dont drive around in the snow very often anymore, but im sure id feel more confident with nice tires.

That being said, snow driving is about confidence and skill, any car with 4wd and nice tires will be fine for the skilled driver.

I have experience in both, and lets just never put you in a subaru ok?

Not trying to be an asshole but hard pack snow is pretty easy to drive on no matter what your car/tire situation is, it's ice or slush that is the problem really. Stemming from that, for the most part it doesn't matter really what kind of car you have as long as it's not a fucking prius or something... it's the tires. Gotta get those studs.

When all you are doing is sliding, how would center of gravity matter at all unless you hit a dry spot? Oh god listen to me, I hate trucks as much as anyone (though I have one and it's useful) but here I am defending trucks...

I have blizzaks on my F150 and I never really take it out of RWD because I don't have to. But I will say, on a snowy/icy road if I'm on my blizzaks and have 4WD on, there's no way a Subi with all season tires would be able to keep up.

I drove a Subaru for the past 4 years and just got a truck. Experience in both, I would take a Subaru over a truck any day assuming both had similar tires.

You have more equal weight distribution in a Subaru, therefore it is much easier to regain control if you start to slide. A lower center of gravity combined with this weight means you are much less likely to find your back end sliding out.

Obviously Blizzaks/any pure winter witre will make a world of difference in snow. Anyone who thinks AWD+A/S tires is better than 4x4/AWD with Blizzaks is stupid.

It's not the car, it's the driver, and with an attitude as blatant and broad as, "will out preform any, with or without winter tires." you're leaving yourself a dangerous amount of room for error.

a lot of people base their thoughts like that, and people die because of it let me remind you.

Well obviously it is the driver, I was holding that constant. Drive ability is the most important factor

Come out to Utah and then bitch about how bad the drivers are in Vermont. Subaru's are overrated pieces of trash. These kill it harder in the snow, have better gas mileage, are much less expensive and the gaskets won't blow up at 150k miles like your prized Suby's...

I live in Vermont and most cars I see buried in ditches or sliding all over the road are big ass suburbans with Connecticut plates. I'm pretty sure every Vermonter would agree with me on that. People around here whip around in fucking Dodge Neons in blizzard conditions while Dr. Liebowitz can't control his hummer with studded snow tires on the way up to Stratton

Exact opposite I've seen.

It snowed 2" this morning. Got passed by some lesbian in a Forester because me going 35mph in 4 wheel drive was not good enough. She was in a rush to eat some muff in sure. I had to turn off but I wish I could have passed her in the ditch.

Lived in Utah for 6 years. I always thought the drivers were pretty good. No one ever used turn signals, found that funny. I didn't live in the city though.

That explains it. When you get into the valley, shit hits the fan even without weather contributing to their horrendous driving. For example, I've encountered 4 wrong-way drivers here in the past 3 years, 3 of them scarily close to a head on collision.

I drive a 19 year old e39 540 "RWD 6 speed v8 BMW" All season tires and it slays snow as long as nobody goes too fucking slow in front of me. And I live in Leadville the highest town in north america. It's all about the cg and 50/50 weight distribution..... and momentum so you don't get stuck. Being born and raised in CO has made me raciest against Subaru's LOL

Ah yikes, sorry you live in leadville. Although if you can slay 24 in that thing props.

Any xt model forester or Sti or wrx will out perform a truck 90% of the time. I've watched huge trucks get their asses handed to them by Sti's

def slay 91 but get it done on 24 pretty good too. leaddirty aint bad cheap and close

Youre victimizing the wrong subaru people

There are also the dicks that think their WRX permits them to fucking rip around anywhere they want in the snow and put other drivers in danger

Winter wonderland at 6am this morning. 6" of panic. Sounds like my girlfriends words...

Muff diver in forester ass over tea kettle in woods.

Then some Darwin Award winner, in you guessed it, a Subaru, passes plow truck to possible head on in on coming traffic behind me. I wasnt turning around to do CPR...I didn't have enough coffee left to get that crazy.

Vermont sucks.

Nobody ever uses turn signals in Montana either! Drives me nuts. They can handle their shit in the snow and ice though. I mean, we basically drive on snow and ice for 3-4 months straight. Most people who crash are out of staters coming for school and they get a new Subaru and think it can handle anything. My dumbass old roommate nearly killed us doing 75 on the freeway and hit a patch of ice. We fucking slid out towards the jersey barrier at that speed on a downhill right hand turn and LUCKILY the ABS kicked in and we regained traction.

I don't get it, are you under house arrest or something? If you hate it so much, just leave.

Either do something about it, or stop bitching. Nobody wants to hear it.

I agree, you can drive like a maniac in the snow with a subaru and barely even slip... Stop acting like its the first time you've seen snow every time theres a storm
