Do you know if ...

umm, i understand what you are saying about it not suporting anyone. but

a) cheaper is cheaper.

b) the manager at our sportchek used to ride for dynastar, and also i think 2 people on this site work there.

c) cheaper is cheaper.

You have to remember though that we are all kids with small budgets and large eyes. When we get older, get good paying jobs and get settled down, we will likely have no problem paying more for the small shops.

Until then, kids will be kids.

agreed. but thats one thing i couldnt do. i couldnt steal from a ski store. i would feel like i am taking from the industry. even when you take the cheap route and buy from sportchek it still is getting money flowing in the industry.

SPORT CHEK CAN EAT MY ASS! my brother bought bindings there (hes young..) he got look nova or something? i dunno i didnt pay much attention. well it came with a 1 yr warranty. the FIRST day he rode them the riser/mount pad thing cracked and broke. the the next day (@ days after buying it) he wanted it warrantied. the owner of the store said hell no, the warranty doesnt come if its for "going off jumps". my mom FREAKED.. shes one of those people who will kill someone if needs be to get what she wants. she said she was going to make this a HUGE problem for them if they didnt warranty it.. call head office and shit.. so the guy finally gave him THE FUCKING PAD and that was it.. we left. i swear to god if my mom walks in that store everyone working there will hide. fucking scary shit i was shitting my pants.

the moral SPORT CHEK CAN EAT MY ASS.

you know you're right; cheap is better!

consider this:

you buy your skis at sportchek. unless you're at a decent one, you've gotta go somewhere else to install your binders. if there is a warranty problem with the skis, sportchek is slow to get shit done for you while a real shop can have you back on the snow in a week (provided you don't ski armadas).

so yes cheaper is better but if you spend a bit more, you get less hassle and you deal with people that know exactly what they're talking about!

in conclusion, sportchek can lick my bag!

i know skis and bikes isnt the greatest, but their having the greatest sale this week. its quite amazing actually

paul montgomery is a douche. skis and bikes is not very good, i hate that store because when i go in there people tell me all sorts of BS. a few years ago when salomon was haveing shitty bindings i wanted to buy a pair of skis with out bindings but they wouldnt sell em with out bindings (even though they werent mounted yet) because they told me if i used my rossi race bindings they would be bad... despite the fact they are the same as the look/dynastar bindings, which in my oppinion are the best bindings you can get currently for park skiing.

though i suppose its a hell of alot better than sportcheck.

when making comments such as this you need to be more specific as to what skis you were buying. if the salomon skis in question used the "pilot" binding system then no you can't use another binding with them.

another thing, there are instances in the retail industry where skis and bindings are purchased as a package from the supplier. this is because stores don't want excess stock especially of high end bindings because they can sometimes be difficult to sell individually. they also do this to ensure each set of skis has the proper bindings.

it isnt that they were trying to sell them together. its that they tried to tell me they were better than my other bindings. and they were not salomon skis they were 4frnt, and when i asked the question if it was possible to buy just the skis because they were not mounted yet. they could have easily said they only sell skis with the binding..... instead of coming up with some lame ass lie.
