What pads, if any do you wear to ski in the park?

My shins and hips took a beating in my first season. I was trying to fin my old football pads to protect my hips, is there anything better? What about for shins, I have what I think are good boots called Lange Fluid 80 FR. Or do you just have wait for the nerves in your shins to slowly die?

Also, what about for the undercarriage? I don't mean a jock and a cup I mean something to protect against getting your balls getting hit if you fall and straddle a rail.

JK, just wear a helmet and learn to fall anything more than that is way excessive I think

i dont wear any but they are cool. kind of restricting though.

i slammed my hip on a flat down box and i wore the pads in my underarmor and that worked good.

if i were you i would just get a tight spandex like pant/short and put soft pads in there, same thing as the crash pants except less bulky and doesnt restrict.

u could also just put the pads from your football pants into the spandex, those would work well

bruises heal, learn how to fall so you dont tear or break anything. Like never land with your knee locked. I did that and have been siting in a bed for 6 days after surgery on my knee

i take shit for it, but i wear R.E.D. impact shorts, scored em for twenty off a dude that broke his back an couldn't ride, there really good for skiing east coast cause it gets icy as fuck at some places an its really nice to be able to sit down when you go home our out to a party after crackin you hip/ass region on a rail or icy landing, an somethin bout them gives me alot less fear and i just feel better bout tryin new rails cause i'm not thinking about a broken/swollen ass later

most of the time i wear crash pads but now theyre all ripped up and i started going with just like a pair of basketball shorts underneath my ski pants

dude i totally smashed my knee on a rail really bad mid season and it robbed me of some of the best 5 weeks of the year, and i still have a large bump right where my knee meets my shin thats as hard as bone. I went and got an MRI and luckily nothing was damaged ligament wise but i fuked up my Petilla, so shortly after it happened i ordered BlackDiamond Telekinkneesis knee pads for telemarkers and they worked out pretty good

wow im surprised how many people actually wear some sort of padding. i personally wouldnt wear anything more than a helmet, id rather fall on my ass and have a bruise than feel like a complete faggot putting on pads to go skiing..

you either dont fall much cause of not challenging yourself, and or you dont ski everyday, cause after a bad fall sometimes your to bruised up to ski

theres honestly no way for either of us to prove that so maybe, but all i rock is a helmet(which is sooo necessary)and as of the end of this season knee pads(due to injury), all i was gettin at is who are u to say someone should or shouldnt wear pads or if it makes them a pussy or not. obviously you haven't fallen bad enuff to really have an opinion on the matter, cause believe me once you have a bad spill (i honeslty hope you dont) you may change your mind

you're pretty much wrong. i dont ski everyday because i go to college but i do ski a shit load. just because there is the chance that you could fall while skiing park doesnt mean you should be a little bitch and wear pads. i didnt wear pads when i was learning to ski at age four, im not gunna wear them sixteen years later...there really isnt any need to. now im not talking about shorts with a little extra padding in them, those arent bad, but fucking hip protectors and back braces..i mean gimme a break.

anyways unless i really fuck myself up, which doesnt happen often, im not gunna call it a day untill the lifts close. if i take a bad fall on a jump then ill just take it easy for a little bit and ski it off.

i do agree that some of the shit you can find online is ridiculous (back/hip pads, impact vests, etc,...)because from the speed of some of the wrecks we can take pads wont do shit, but some things can be helpfull. Once again someone who doesnt use pads tryin to tell people who do wear em that they are pussies, how do u really know if they are, and when i was four i wasnt wearin pads either but twenty years later i decided it may be a good idea cause mommy and daddy dont pay the bills anymore. and hospital bills, and lost work hours equals less loot to ski, so why dont you just give it a rest and let people do what they want

haha i didnt call anyone a pussy. i simply said that i personally would feel like a fag putting on pads before i go skiing which is why i never will. i could careless if other people wear them or not its their call. and if i got severely hurt the hospital bill would be one of the last things on my mind..

ha, yea sorry, the pussy thing was more directed to any hater, its just why even put a negative comment out if maybe the pads make some people more confident, it sure as hell helped me

have never woren pads. thought about it after breaking 3 ribs, then said fuck it.. i came very close to wearing a cup one day.. and regret not till this day.. KL and psizzle know what im talking about...

I normally think of wearin nothin, but I pinched my back this season and it put me out for a month and a half...

So I was thinking of getting a back pad, but I can't afford anything, so I geuss I'll just have to learn how to fall.

Also, falling on your hips sucks... did that and couldn't walk for a bit, gonna have to land on my but or something haha!

Go skate, skate bails are 50x's worse than my normal snowboard crashes. Basically straight shoot outs to wrist jammers or full on body to pavement shots. Although flying to the air like 60+ feet and landing completely sideways hurts like a bitch too. I had to wear a back support dealy to snowboard for a few days after that

Haha you had beter get used to it..... If you wore old football pads you would look like the biggest gaper in the park. Just wear a helmet and you be fine...

i usually ride everyday with my protec hip pads, it's nice to not come home every time with a bruise on my ass, or maybe i should just stop falling but that's a separate issue. i also carry my mouthguard in my jacket for trickier rails and if i'm spinning big off any jumps cause i've seen way to many people knock out their teeth and slam their face so it's a nice confidence boost. even though it's not a 100% protection it's still a lot better than just normal

some people have differnt opinions....i dont think your a fag if you put on some impact shorts or somthing.i personal dont wear impact shorts but i dont need them because i dont go massive.....if i did there would be no doubt in my mind about gettin some

I dont wear anything but helmet in the park but I am investing in a back protector for big mountain comps and whatnot next year

yeah man if only somebody like Marc Andre had one...thats definitely worth any $$ you throw down for it.

helmet in the park for sure, after re-injuring my left knee for the second time, I decided it wasn't worth it to tear everything apart again so this season I had to wear knee guards for a couple of months before I could get my knee stable enough again. So yeh, first season using guards, a little uncomfortable, but hell, if I get to skip on more rehab im happy.

less people here are using back protectors...

no, on standard days i have a helmet and a back protectors, if i am about to try new stuff onto rails i will use a hip pad, because these things are plain and simple awesome.

and all that stuff isnt restricting if you think about it. i mean, if i wont hit the park due to a injury or whatever, i dont wear a helmet or protectors, but in the park you need that stuff and its just restricting as long as you think coolness goes over safety

Helmet- because concussions are no fun, and brain damage is permenaint.

Back protector- I can and have recovered from broken legs/arms, I am not gaurentied to recover from a broken back. Parilization scares me more then death.

Mouth guard - don't want to bite your tung off, also helps against concussions/head injuries

helmet, and sometimes these really small shinguards that i have, cuz ive fucked my shins a cuople times on rails, and you all know how much shinning a rail hurts
