Do you go through the samething to get to your mountain?

on a good pow day, trying to get up little cottonwood can be death... otherwise getting up isn't all that bad. coming down the canyon though can get messy. it's taken me an hour+ to get from albion base at alta to goldminers...

nothing like that at all in Ny. if i were to walk 5 miles through the woods in my backyard, i would end up on top of local my mountain.

It's not THAT bad heff. I luckily only have to travel about 10 minutes by car to get to Alpine. Brandywine is like 25 minutes.

no this is what i go through.

-pack up my friend's car when he comes and picks me up at around 8am

-30 minutes of crazy new york city driving on the deserted highways of jersey

-arrive at mtn creek

I'm actually happy now that i live 5 minutes away from a little resort called Roundtop rather than driving a fricken hour through traffic to get there, so to answer your question, no. Tehee.

i dunno how long you've lived in montana.... but thats how it gets more into the summer and shit. travelers are crazy!

ha growing up south of boston, to go north to the mountains my family and I always had to drive through boston. some friday nights it would take hours...HOURS...to get through the city. it wasn't at all out of the ordinary for a 3.5 hour trip to take 6+.

but now, i go to school just outside burlington and it's a quick 45min to the mountain. never any traffic. the real challange is waking up early to get a whole day in

This past season I would open my door, ski down to the lifts, ski all day, then ski back to my door for some down time. Europe is the shit for this.

Next season, I'm going to be in Breck... So I guess I have a little bit of I70/Co traffic to deal with, but at least i'll be living at the bottom of the hill.

COski, when will I need to use the I70? I hope not to frequently.

Poor you. Thats is every day traffic for me.

Now imagine the traffic like that when they close down 495 at random times and put it to 1 lane.
Shits fucked

Don't you dare talk about Killer Bridge like that!!!!

God that place blows.

No traffic though!

im a true weekend warrior
i drive roughly 285 miles (5 hours) every friday night in the winter so i can ski sat and sun, and alot of the time im one of those suckers sittin traffic.... but iz totally worth it

i just moved to denver and I never realized traffic was a big issue on that highway. :(

thanks for shitting on my move to denver asshole.

Well if you leave your home on a sat morning at like 530am you will be fine...hahahahahaha otherise, welcome to Colorado skir traffic....enjoy...

Aren't there any alternative routes? I haven't been out to CO, but it seems like there should be some less boring sideroads that be a little more interesting than sitting in shitloads of traffic.

holy fuck

the worst we have is maybe a line of trraffic like an eight of a mile long even on christmas and pres week

HWY 2 WA

to get to the mountain for me:

wake up

get dressed

drive 15 min to whiteface

put boots on

get skis out of locker

ride gondola and ski approach --> mtn. run

everyday

its nice

for me, the highway isnt the direct route to the mountain... well for the beginning half hour it is... but no it doesnt get blocked up like that at all

to my mountain in NY it takes an hour max, and there is no traffic whatsoever. But thats because we take the back roads, and that not a lot of people go to the mountain (plattekill).

VT-going to sugarbush i've never hit traffic. Trip takes 3 1/2-4 hours

come to think of it I've never hit traffic skiing

NY-1

CO-0

i dont know if i just have incredible luck or what but I never hit that kind of traffic goin up 70.

i left at 8 most mornings and got up there by 945ish its not too bad. most of days i went were on weekdays though so that could have contributed. just dont go up during rush hour like 6-7 and youll be fine.

the closest real city to my town is at least 4 hours away, so we dont get anything near like that
that looks horrible
i might cry on a powder day if i was stuck in that

those pics are retarded, look how sunny it is, that is all the texans and gapers going up at 9 in the morning, if you leave early for first chair, you rarely hit traffic. coming back on a sunday afternoon however, that is not uncommon

no, everyone at my mountain is poor, so you just see lines of hitchhikers along the road to the mountain

Word, most ridiculous stoplight in Washington. Did you notice the "tired of sitting in traffic? call this number (xxx) xxx-xxxx" signs are gone?
