Do you get new skis every season?

Just wondering, usually I get a new pair for Christmas every year or every other year, luckily I've never had a ski or binding break on me so I've never had to buy a new pair mid season. Currently I ski on the 2012 K2 Press, 2011 K2 Domains, and rossi S7s for pow. Marker Jester bindings on the Press, stock bindings on the domains and S7's.

absolutely not. get a pair, use them to every ounce of life is beaten out of them and then hopefully manage to scrape together money to get a new pair

Pretty much rotate out my quiver every year. But 191 Billygoats are here to stay. Really need to pick up a sub 100 ski this year though.

Buy/sell a pair or two every year. It's nice to have a rotating quiver to find what works best. If you buy used and sell a pair, you can get new skis and not break the bank. For park skis, I just ride whatever beater pair I can get my hands on.

In the past I've gotten a new pair ever other year, but this year I've already outgrown my new 155 Fischers, So I'll probably need a new pair next year. Fortunately the fishers were cheap in the first place and for racing I can usually find a decent pair for 100 bucks at the local ski swap.

I'll never let go of old skis though unless it's to help pay for new ones. They usually get turned into touring skis, rock skis, or my parents give them to cousins without asking me after a year or two.

I buy two pairs a year due to generally breaking two pairs a year. Mangled the shit out of the arvs I bought this year and broke the core in salomon czars. The arvs are probably going to get warranty on the arv's and the czars were used.

Every other season since I'm still growing. But I'm about to reach maximum height so I'll probably switch to buying new skis every two seasons after that.

At least 2 seasons on each pair. I still use my last pair for backyard setups, too. I actually would kind of hate getting a new pair every year, you never "get to know and love" your sticks that way.

I still ride pow on shitty armada alpha 1s from 3 years ago, the edge on one of them is completely blown off like it is no longer apart of the ski, but dgaf it helps you ski shitty meadows rails

I ride the edge on my front foot pretty hard, carving black park jumps on an icy day becomes

hard after 100-200 days. nice to have edges for the days you can clear jumps easily

luckily my last pair of skis lasted almost 2 full season until the core rotted out and i had to get new ones.

ive been building my quiver lately so ive been picking a decent amount of skis in the past couple years, but once i have all the different skis i want, my usage will be so divided out through them that i probably wont have to worry about buying skis for a while

Name em!! For me i usualy wait till the skis are broke but if i find a good deal on new ones ill go ahead

Basically till they outgrow me. I ride 171 2013 salomon threats and i just bought them. Gonna get something new when i get taller. Thats what I would reccomend

you either don't ski enough, don't ride hard enough, or got really lucky on the quality of your skis. I take care of my skis and they end up usually delaming or just straight up snap in half.

I have been unfortunately. Many of them have been additions to the quiver though. I tend to buy new park skis even though there is still life in my old ones, they are just trashed. I'm gonna run my park skis into the ground now, and I still have my past 3 pairs so I'll just remount them as they break. The main reason I bought new park skis this year was because my bindings were trashed on my old ones... was like yolo may as well new skis too haha.

In years past, no. Now that I build though.... As many as time allows for. I should have at least 5 new pair for myself before next season. Hopefully more.

I've been able to afford a pair the last 2 seasons and now I'm set for hopefully a while. Won't need a new pair for the next few years, unless I get a breakage.

Every. fucking. year. Its not that I want to, it's because I ski so damn hard, every damn day, out there on that damned mountain. But yes, and when mommy and daddy don't fund your recreational activities, it can be quite the burden on your wallet.

Typically every other season for me, right now I have my old Recoils for urban and just bought some Scott TW's for next season as a nice park/all-mountain ski.

in the past 3 years i hate to say it but ive gotten new skis each year. first i had afterbangs with look px jib in them. got ninthwards for xmas that uncle won in a bump contest and sold the px jibs and got some fks for em. still have them and love them. mom and granparents bought me a pair of old armadas for xmas because they were super cheap and some atomic ffg binders. still ride the ninthwards and the armadas. my opinion dont buy new skis unless u need them and keep the binders as long as possible.

FUCK SPOILED BITCHES

i have so many friends that suck but get new SKIS every few months.

i prefer to ride skis until they die.

2006 Tanner Halls

2012 Threats

2003 Invaders

2004 Elan

K2

my armadas have been rebuilt like 4 times. they are as good as when i got them.

completely fiberglass ski with a thick topsheet.........love

I usually buy a pair for $150, ride them for a year to year and a half them, sell em for like $100 and mount the old bindings on a new pair.

I break a pair once a year, so yes. Go through bindings slightly faster, but luckily it is easy to get new toe pieces etc.

I suppose I'm at a pair a season, but my 3 most recent pairs were given to me... so I haven't actually paid for a pair in 4 years. I like to keep the quiver rotating though.

1 pair of 08/09 arws

1 pair of hand made skis that I have A/T bindings on

1 pair of 10/11 JJ's

1 pair of 12/13 arws

may actually buy a pair of on3ps next year for a new at rig cause im very slowly trying to get into speedriding.

I think it's a bit silly to not use your gear till it's dead. Such an expensive sport, you could be spending that $400 on a plane ticket to Montana or a second season pass.

I only sell skis if I don't like them. Otherwise I'll just ride them to their death. I'm always up to buying new skis as long as I have money

I ride skis until they are no longer ride able, i went through 2 pairs this year. when you ride hard, your gear takes a lot of abuse. you cant expect skis to last that long.

Stock up on good used skis and go with fks 185s or p18s. Interchangable parts make those bindings last for years. First season Ive had more then one set going. Gotta say it was fun to swap back and forth. Even rode my urbans for a nice buttery day.

K2 skis are like zombies. They will be heavy, sluggish, and beat beyond belief, but somehow they are still usable.
