Do you drive without a seatbelt on?

100% of no helmet posts are plateaued “middle aged” (1990-1996) skiers who can’t accept the fact that they need alcohol and or marijuana to enjoy skiing yet haven’t progressed in years as a result of their addiction. Also a few mentally challenged teens who simply imitate aesthetics.

this is all completely accurate except i was born in 88

NS ruined my brain made me so stupiders so now theres no point in wearing a helmet because I got nothing left to protect up ther

Can you dub?

Just here to remind people that lots of kids don't have parents or have really shitty ones that don't care about their safety or well-being. Like I get the parenting argument but there are lots of exceptions.

To be clear I'm fine with skiing without a helmet, I draw the line at bullying people who wear one or otherwise actively discourage wearing one. You do you, just remember you have an impact on other people

I wear my seatbelt whenever I am in a car. However, it should be the responsibility of the individual to decide if they want to or not. You getting brutalized in a car accident will not directly impact anybody else, only you.

Getting brutalized in a car accident absolutely will directly impact others a large number of “no seatbelt” injury’s are from non seatbelted individuals body’s flying through the car and striking other people in the same car

TBH, it is an issue especially when one is uninsured, or under insured. If you can't pay your bill, guess who has to pay?

All of us through higher rates etc. So even if it's just you getting into the hospital, it affects many others than yourself.

I didn’t wear a helmet because Tom Wallisch wasn’t wearing one in “I feel ghood” and I thought the hair flowing over the goggles was simply steezy as hell. I am 100% not even joking I only started wearing one again cuz my mom was bugging whenever I showed her vids lol

My sisters freak on me every time I post on insta without a helmet. Usually its cuz I forgot it that day, but damn it feels good to not wear one, especially taking chair laps. Pretty much anytime in the park tho gotta have the bucket on. Just wish it didnt look so steezy without it.

We had a family friend get in a skiing accident without a helmet and now shes 27 with the mental aptitude of an 8th grader, so yeah protect your noggins

Would it be fair to say that applies to alcohol and tobacco as well? If you can't pay your medical bill for lung cancer / liver cirrhosis, should we ban those substances all together? I'm not mad, just trying to apply your argument to other areas.

At the range of that age you have 32 max, 26 min. That's middle aged lol?

If were going to go with that lets at least have universal health care.

I feel like otherwise we're just jumping through hoops to piece together an argument for seat belt laws.

Assuming that you crash, assuming you get i jured, assuming you don't have insurance. We're not talking a huge percentage. Sure medical bills can be expensive but people not wearing a seatbelt is not the reason our health care system is a dumpster fire.

It's weird to me out of all the things we've latched onto seat belt laws so strongly. Again i wear mine almost always. But if you don't want to, you shouldn't have to.

It's an unnecessary law and just give an excuse for more traffic cop bs.

Also if we're going to go for something actually helpful, enforcing headlight laws would be a better usage of time. But that will never happen.

If you do stupid stuff and become a warning sign or warning tale, it's on you but you had no responsibility to do something else necessarily.

I think it's good to be self-aware about what you put out if you are in a position to influence others. That's generally good right? That's not saying to do something different either, it's just being aware of it.

So if you are out there as a pro athlete a little self awareness in my opinion makes you way more marketable (good for you!) and a more smarter interesting person (good for you too!).

Plenty of people in very very very influential positions are total morons and you'll see an entire group of handlers desperately trying to set it right assuming their influence involves lots of jobs and money for others. Then some in those positions go "this isn't a good look, let's make sure that's not on camera" and do whatever they do anyway. They have self awareness to know when they are on and off stage.

To require any of that from anyone though is a tough ask. Those that do become role models, those that don't become warning signs. Both are ok. If you are a pro athlete your earnings probably vary though!

Good point. And truth there. Yet, wearing a safety belt can be done if one is smoking or drinking.

I was just sticking to the post title.

Again, good points. I'd go for health care. In the meantime, to put on a safety belt is easy, and no big deal.

I'm 58, i ski park everyday and my back and knees are just fine. I also skied moguls for a million years and laugh my ass off when i see "how are your knees?" comment on every fucking single mogul video ever posted. You people need to get to the gym and stop wrecking so much and you wouldn't be so worried about helmets.

Thats awesome, I hope to still be doing this at 58, but you are only lying to yourself if you think your body feels the same as it did when you were 20.

Bruh

keep the faith, boom

I was a borderline alcoholic and professional party animal when i was 20, I'm in 10X better shape now My 58 yo self would beat the shit out of my 20 yo self. I just skied 130 days with 2 weeks in Mammoth and Tahoe (lots and lots of park laps) and I feel great. I'm at around 5 thousand ski days and I've probably gotten lucky to avoid too many big injuries, but i also know my limitations and ski within my ability. I think i got a couple more seasons left before i quit jumping and spinning 3's.
