do you dig Powder

i would for sure, from videos that i've seen the powder is amazing, theres always untouched waist deep somewhere to be found

I don't think I'd go unless there was some kind of camp or something that met you at the airport and took you to the mountain/resort.

ive heard its relativley cheap compared to the west, unless you live there, but i dont have that luxury. but id go there even if i had to take a boat across the pacific and hitch hike all the way to a mountain

i'm living in japan right now,

i came here to see some new sights and work off my student loans....

i'm somewhat skeptical of ur business idea because skiing is damn expensive (along with everything else esp. accomodations) here, i'd rather save my money and spend it in the summer when i can ski in NZ or South america...

cuz really, there's great powder to be had in alotta places ie. home (fattwin's from canada, judging by his red marijuana leaf)

The thing is its not so expensive. Flights are about 700 to 1000 cdn. lift tickets 40 to 50 bucks a day but seasons passes are 300 to 500 a year. hotels from 35 to 50 bucks a nite. Japan has an image of an expensive country its just an image.

P.S. JAPAN HAS SICK POWDER

i'm in nagano, and i paid over 500$ for my pass...

i'm sorta used to not paying for a pass because i get jobs at my mountain back home.

i assume ur close to or in nagano too cuz i saw ur nozawa videos.... where's ur pass from?

cuz i haven't seen anything close to 300$ for a pass in nagano.

as for japan being an expensive country....sorry, i have to disagree (any other expats? please chime in whether u think so or not)

paying $4 for a 5 minute busride? even riding the local trains for a day in tokyo will set u back at least $25 which is a lot more than public transit back home. buying fruit is something that eats at my wallet.

but then there are the hyaku en shops!

anyway, can i get some info on the 25-35$ hotels u were talking about?

Im in kyoto the pricy part is the highway. Tsugaike had a pass for 30000man

dynaland 20000

takasu 30000 weekday

Being from Canada I know this a train into the city at least 10 bucks bus cheaper but you do need a car. Used cars here are the bomb so cheap.

Rent pricy sometimes but if you look you can find houses here for 50000 to 60000 man a month share that with a mate and your laughing.

Hotels where do you want to stay Nozawa 4000 a nite 0269-85-3540 nice clean new pension.

If you want Hakuba the alps or snoedinn but I like a place called hobby in katakana.0261-82-2756 About 5000 to 7000 with food but this guy was a chef. 5 star food and its all you can eat fresh bread for din and breakfast.

Fruit here is pricy but its good quaility and you cant compare prices when you think about NZ or Auz and the amount you can grow down there. And remember why do people come here cause you can make a ton of money to go back home with does that sound expensive?

P.S. JAPAN HAS SICK POWDER

i assume those areas u quoted are further south than nagano...is that where ur pow is? if so, then ur one lucky guy...

and ur right, some things are cheaper here than back home...but the same could be said whether u were in monaco or or mexico.

used cars are way cheaper than back home...but i assume u must know why. after ur original registration expires on a new car the cost of re-registering is so high that some japanese simply buy a new car for a few grand more.

i happen to think this is a government scheme to encourage people to buy new cars frequently (after all what country are honda, toyota, nissan, subaru, and mitsubishi from???)

and if ur making a 'ton' of money that's great... as for me, because japan is an expensive country, even though i made more money than i would have back home (20-30%more) the NET amount of cash i've saved would be roughly the same as if i'd stayed back home....

i came to japan to see the sights and absorb the culture...if u only wanna make money, south korea and taiwan or even china would be the way to go (this is advice to other readers, u sound pretty settled in fattwin) but then, u wouldnt be skiing as much.

looks like we'll have to agree to disagree on the topic of JP's cost of living.

fruit in most advanced countries is pretty good quality dude...and cheaper....

and second, what do u mean i can't compare prices in japan to Aus or NZ? i just did.

a lot of fruit in AUS,NZ or US is cheaper than in japan BECAUSE japan has way less space to grow fruit. That IS the comparison.

u ever hear of the saying: arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even if u win, ur still retarded.

i'm a pimp, u wanna work for me?

i also teach english (which u don'T need much qualifications for)

anyway, i just remembered something that should put this to rest.

back home, a peeler bar costs $5-10, or it's sometimes no cover..... here, u gotta pay $80-120 to get in....but since i've never gone in...i can't be sure if a dance is the ONLY thing u get.

My girlfried just got home from Japan and looking at her pics she got so many waist deep powder days. Japan looks awesome for finding the deep fluffy stuff

We will agree to disagree on the price then. On the powder there is no question. If you ever get the chance to come and ski here dont pass it up
