Do you actually read freeskier?

this may just be because I'm looking at Freeskier from an east coast perspective but I've always found it to be a very colorado/whistler centric magazine. furthermore it's gotten to be like a bunch of frat boys patting themselves on the back; only covering a select group of athletes (mostly from colorado) and not giving much attention to grassroots film companies or skiers. they don't seem to look to hard for up and coming talents or trends, and rather just stick to the basic of skiing (giant park setups and epic powder trips). while on some fantasy level its cool to read a story about some dude having everything paid for by his sponsor on an epic powder trip to alaska, it just makes me depressed while im sitting there taking a shit in my apartment. i'd rather hear about an epic backyard sesh where some kids are progressing the sport without unlimited financial resources or the best terrain in the country. thats what fucking inspires me!!!

not really whistler focussed, at all. Definitely colorado, pete olenick, and the aspen party scene.

Freeskier used to be so east coast until about 2005 that i think they are trying to make up for it.

as for back yard rail stories. maybe one from the i hate NY crew a few years ago could have been interesting. but no. never. Give road trip stories. Everyone always knows those have the most epic stories anyways, so why not write it down.

shay's east coast rail mission journal or whatever it was... that urban contest in freeskier last year. that was definitely amusing fare.
