I think yes... and i do check this site for the news because it gives the least depressing aspect of the news.. and at times the most compassionate. Your average news channel brodcasts the news like the world is constatnly going to end. Where as on NS people just say the problem, some people offer humourous suggestions on how to fix it, and everyone goes skiing. Like Britney Spears' child... we knew it should be shot and killed to have a better life.
Also the news is very uncompassionate. They will say some major celebrity died and then hurry on to do the next story about someone else who has walked onto a bus wearing a bomb. When a celeb dies we actually discuss it and individually add our opinions and r.i.p.'s, When a skier even gets injured we immediatly set up charity organizations for them.
When we have opinions about a topic they are also very well rounded because we have all age groups from 10 (or younger) to 30+ year olds all coming from different countries in the world. So you can get a general idea of peoples opinions from many countries and age groups within 10-15 minutes after people have posted... not something a news station can do.
I watch Fox News for a bit and then read NS to see how people really feel about Tom Cruises ugly baby.
