i mean, do we really want it to be?

because basically we are the guys on the hill and are unique, and there are only like 2 guys at my hill that have twin tips, so we are very small but its sorta cool because you can show up snowboarders, and stuff like that. I mean this site was basically brought up for all the newschool skiers to have a place to talk with people that have a big interest in the sport also.

I think i like having newschool skiing as the weird or unpopular thing to be doing, because whenever i see other people on twin tips on the hill, we ski with eacher for the rest of the day, because there are so little of us

not at whistler or any other big resorts i would assume...at whis every skier in the park is on twins and theres ALOT of skiers in the park...skiing isant as big but its getting to be close to snowboarding at least in whistler

No, skiing is good where it is. Look at Skatboarding and how its sold out so much, then look at inline its still big with the people who love it. Doing the sport should be done out of love for it, no cuse eveyone is doing it. I think that it would be better if it was only rider own compnies that put skis out like Line and Armadra. They need the money to keep going on bigger compines can survie with out TwinTip sales.

yeah i would like to see it get a bit bigger cuz more money = more companies = cooler products, but at the same time I dont want to see it sell out. If i ever see Tanner or Pep in a chocolate milk or Doritos Gosnacks commercial, thats the day i quit.

 
i dont think there should be a comairison between snowboarding and skiing. its not like we are two gangs beeting up on each other and we want the bigger numbers. were i ride there are more snowboarders, but also a good amount of skiers. we all get along well too. its fun to ride with a mix of skiers and boarders cause it adds a diversity to the tricks u see, and results in a more fun park atmosphere.

 
i would rather it didnt cuz then it wont be all snowboarding posers in the park like it is from where im from and there will be alot more of the 'u wanna see me bust this seven' and they do a strait air and fall from skiers.

 
it doesnt matter to me really, i like skiing and whether its only a few kids doin it or if it becomes mainstream, evevn though more popularity would mean more money and better products which is good

HAHAHAHA, who cares how big it gets just cause other people get into it doesnt mean that it has sold out. Plus it takes a lot to become a good skier (not a park only person) The more people who are into it the better the equipment will become. There are already a ton of sellouts in skiing, selling out isnt taking money for being yourself its changing your image to fit in. So the guys who are doing their own thing and making cash are not the sellouts. Its all the kids wearing rags and oakley pants 10 sizes to large and who ski like an Orangutan who are the sellouts...

^^ is right. just because i'm a miniature and the smallest pants come in medium, my pants are way too big. but that doesn't make me a sellout. and besides, it's fun to ride around like a demented gorilla every once in a while.

So what if someone skis because they want to be cool. Thats fucking great, let them throw their money into the industry, so you get better everything: skis, clothes, videos, etc etc etc.

You ski because you love it, thats all that should matter to you.

 
Of course it should get bigger, getting bigger doesn't mean it's selling out. I hope it gets 10 times bigger than it is now, it needs to get bigger. When you have sports like golf and baseball as big as they are than skiing should definantly get like a hell of alot bigger.

 
This is kinda a weird issue. One one side i like being unique and being able to be better than boarders and have other people pay attention to you. But, i dont want it to become too big. Eh, i dont really know. I like the way it is now.

Id say 5 boarders to every 1 twintipper at my mountain.

yeh i like it the way it is too. it's still too much of a niche sport for us to have a lot of posers or shit talkers like in snowboarding. it seems like the people at my mountain get along really well with each other, and everybody just tries to help the other people push themselves.

This is no where near the beginning...that was 7/8 years ago. But its amazing how far we have come, I remember the first time I saw State of Mind, it blew me away. That was just half a dozen guys doing 3 grabs and stuff. Now you look at guys doing 180s off of 40 ft cliffs and cork spins over 100+ft tables. All you kids need to watch Degenerates and just look at how far its come.

I remember when the first twins came out, I bought a pair of Dynastar Razors that were 150s (the same year the rossi vert=153 and K2 Poacher=163 noodles) were all the twins they had. We thought it was cool cause they were bigger than the skiboards some kids I know were riding, so they were better for the park. We started learning 180s and 540s but we would get kicked out of the park and if we hit the pipe patrol would threaten to pull our passes. The next year The 1080s were created and released in very limited numbers but only in canada. My buddy called a dozen shops then drove 8 hours to Quebec to get a pair. A few months later I got hooked up with a prototype pair of K2 twins with the stuntman graphics from a family friend which I broke two weeks later then got a pair of prototype concepts. Now every company makes multiple types of twins, Line builds real skis, Armada and 4frnt exist, skiers are in the X-games and superpipe may become an olympic event. And kids who were in elementary school when I stomped my first 3 mute are now throwing tricks I only wish I could attempt let alone land. So it has grown a hell of a lot faster than snowboarding did in its first 10 years. Snowboarding grew slowly at first then exploded. So if it only grows faster for us then its gonna really be amazing how huge it could get.

Skiing will become huge. It will trust me. Everything goes in cycles, Everything. Skiing is bound for another explosion, like in the 70's. Skiing was fucking huge in the 70's. I dont see any reason why skiing wont get like 25 times bigger than it is now. With sports like Baseball, Basketball, and all that shit losing numbers all the time, it just points to skiing exploding. They only thing is the price, which companys seriously need to look at, play basketball, all you need are shoes and a ball, baseball, glove, bat, ball. Skiing, you need fucking, skis, pole, boots, jacket, pants, gloves, goggles, pass. This shit is expensive if your just getting into it, which is pretty much the only drawback.

 
I don't care how big skiing gets, I love it. I have since I was like 5. I don;t care what happens I will ski. I don't ski because its against the grain or with the grain. I ski cause i love it. The day i stop loving it is the day i quit.

All the snowboarder i see are like 14 or younger all the older people are skier.

So many snowboarders out there on my hill. If you are a skier you are either a rental, adult, or a racer. Like no twin-tippers out! There are maybe 4...at my hill and i only see them about once every month or so...

 
up until last year, only skiboards and snowboards were allowed in Sunapee's halfpipe. now they're building a Superpipe for next year, and its not going to be for boarders only. i like newschool the way it is, but it could get bigger and be even better. and for all of you who say that 'core companies are the future' you may be right in some repect, but look at oakley. OAKLEY ISNT A CORE COMPANY! they have put more money into our atheletes than probably any other company and they are ( or at least were) on the Fortune 500. sure, i dont want to see and bunch of kids out there on the PEs (which i just bought, yay!) or TMs or scratches or cant ski for shit and roll over the lips, but i do want to see some more interest in the sport.

ontario is so over run with snowboarders, i can go to moonstone and me and maybe 3 other people will be doing shit in the park other than that trhe only other skiers are 5 year olds with staight skis. snowboarding is huge in ontario it would take decades for skiesr to outnumber boarders.
