Do water-ramps fuck yer skis up?

Is it worth paying extra money to rent shit racing skis at a water ramp to not break your skis?

Oh and no me its at le relais and its also for olympic training and the poolp is deep as tits.
 
No, just use old skis. And at D-Splash you can get your fallen skis back at lunch or at the end of the day. But you tie your bindings to your boots so you never loose them anyways.
 
If you are wondering if they scratch you're skis then no. As for loosing skis it really depends, if you're jumping into a pool generally someone can fetch it if you're jumping into a lake then you should check with the club, the water ramps in red deer where I have gone they have fetched skis at the end of the day. Just check with the area that you're jumping at. Plus you can always attach your skis to your boots.
 
its not worth it, i use the same skis during the season as i did at ramps. not really worth the money, my skis fall to the bottom all the time, you just gotta dive down and get them. only issue you may encounter is your skis snapping, never happened to me, but my friends did break
 
they can get pretty waterlogged and that fucks em for good. my buddy got a pair from our friend that he had used for ramps and they snapped the second week. right in the back and you could tell by looking at the wood that it was waterlogged.
 
yes it will fuck them up. they get waterlogged and will break more easily and they will lose all of their camber. i snapped a pair of skis at park city 2 years ago and bought a pair of 80's skis for $15 haha and i just use those.

and if youre having problems with losing your skis, get some string and make a leash between your boot and your bindings so if they fall off they will just hang from your foot and not sink
 
ive split so many skis at ramps use crappy skis! Or if you can gloss the topsheets with a layer of fiberglass and designate them as your ramp skis in the summer -helps alot!!
 
I used a pair of line chronics, they snapped and the bases got shredded.

Since then, I've used T-halls and pipecleaners, and both held up fine, but I would never risk using a good pair of skis.

And the waterramp... coach... guy... also recommended the extra layer of fiberglass if you're going to be at the water ramps a lot.
 
even on the single kicker binding pull-outs and snapped skis are common, but most likely your skis will be fine. one thing to take into consideration though is that having your skis slap the water with a lot of force throughout the day is stressful to the ski and can lead to it becoming a bit lifeless and less snappy.
 
1. The chlorine will dehydrate your bases and for snowflex your not supposed to wax your skis so that's an issue.

2. When you land it flexes your skis more than they usually do so it wears them out quicker.

I broke two pairs of skis in 10min last time I went ramping...they were foam core skis so I'm not suprised. If you can manage it, fiberglass your skis to strengthen them...which does make them unuseable for winter...also you probs want different boots, its not the best on the liners but it wont ruin them unless you do it like all summer and don't dry them out every night
 
I usually just tighten my dins. I've only had them pop off like once or twice this season. If you're pro enough, You can catch them before they sink to the bottom which makes you look like a badass.
 
if youre a real pro youll catch them before you hit the water. ive pulled a ski off in the air by grabbing too hard haha
 
i dont know what material the ramps you'd be hitting would be, but where i go they have m-snow and it shredded the bases of my silencers next to the edges, so i would suggest renting skis
