Do too short skis look gay?

Hey. I'm like 183cm and i ride 161 1080ies..i like them alot..you can do turns so easily with short skis..but i wondered if longer skis have more style than short ones

 
yes, that would look very gay!!.. Seriously though you should just try longer skis, i am about 180cm and just went from 165 tms to 176 ar5s and the difference was immediately noticable. You have so much more control and balance and after you get used to the extra weight of the length your skiing will improve much quicker. When i got longer skis i noticed a change in my skiing within a day

yeah short is good for learning, if you wanna be good you tend to have longer ones. I have 179's which are nearly as tall as me. They're perfect, good balance, better grip and mainly- faster is higher which is better

it is cool to learn on short skis but if you want to be a respectable skier to me your skis should be at least to your chin. It really comes down to personal preference. this past season i had skis the same hieght as me and i liked the extra lenght.

I am 5'8 and was riding 167 Chronics this winter. I liked them being pretty short, as I could grab closer to the tips and tails and I felt more comfortable spinning.

But, looking at video of myself, they look real short, possibly a little too short.

Since then, have been riding 178 Invaders, and I really love them being that bit longer.

They do look funny, plus with having short skis problems arise in your skiing, your form gets thrown off and you are not a stable as you would be with a larger set of skis.

 
short skis dont look nearly as good, and as you become a better skier, they hinder your ability to get better. if you can do 5s, longer skis will mean a more stable landing, easier to get speed for jumps, and they look better. im not talking about riding 190s. but something around a 175-180

I'm 5'11" and I rode 165's to learn. It was good to have something shorter to get comfortable in the air. Now I have 179 fuji's.

Not only is it the gayest thing ever to ski on skis that are to short for you but they dont perform properly and did i mention that short skis stoll suck get some real skis with your hieght and those short ass things you are just as gay as a snowblader

this past season i skied 164cm 1260s and i won my choice size of scratches so my boss let me take out his 174cm scratches. at first i was like wow this is rediculous i cant ski these but then after a run or 2 i couldn't even tell anymore. get bigger ones

I have a friend who's only joy in life is to skate, surf and flog his log.

im 5'10, (exactly 175 cm) and this season i rode 177s, and next season im steppin up to somethin in the mid 180s. why? cause longer skis are better. they are EASIER to ski, cause they are faster, more stable, nd easier to hit jumps and land. plus, they look way better. plus, with twin tips, your ski "feels" shorter cause they are center mounted, and the tail shortens the running lenght of the ski about 15-20 cm. a 180 cm long ski really rides like a 160 normal ski, and has a running lenght of about 140-150

i used to ride 153s and i saw a vid of myself and realized how amazingly GAY i looked. next season i will be moving up to a 174 scratch FS

 
short skis are incredibly GAY, they wash out and have no balance, buy some sticks that are AT LEAST as tall as you.

thats probably a little small but its funny how the industry of freeskiing is more about the image then riding now. I mean you should use what ever skis you feel comfortable with and can rock with. Dont worry about your skis worry about your skiing, get something that you can rock with not something that you can look "cool" in.

Ok kiddies I'm 5'11'' and I ride 168 cm scratch FS's. People give me shit about it all the time, but you know what i don't care. The fact is I'm poor and can't afford new skis... yeah when you go to college you become poor. But when people give me the ol' "your short skis look so gay" thing, I normally just say "can you throw down a steezy lincoln... yeah thats what I thought".

i think it looks a littler weird but i shouldnt talk since i have smaller skis. but the thing is i am moving in size every year. next year i wanna get a 171. But i think it is all prefrence.

i am 5-9 am gonna be riding 184 and some 189

for park having your skis at eye level seems to be the most preferable

im 5'11 i learned on 164's this year but im boostin up to 178's for next year..i skied my skis and then went to my dads straight skis which at like 185's or something...they were easier but felt really long
