Do sponsered skiers get drug tested

no joke. They should definitely have drug testing because it's a competitive advantage to have a little buzz or to be a little stoned. Definitely no steroid testing though... what skier would ever take roids?

i can't tell if you're serious or joking about the roid thing, because i wouldn't be surprised if serious racers were taking them. also, i'm pretty sure ever since its inception and rise in popularity, skiing has been a sport/lifestyle that involves partying. you can't just change freeskiing into something its not (aka, a straightedge community?). get a grip. freeskiing will never be like that. then everyone would be complaining about it selling out and everything. haven't you seen some of the old tanner videos from like, 2002 and earlier?

i hope that made sense.

if i see a pro in or around a gym, or vids of them training, or stories of how hard they train, i get so much more pumped on them and can then more seriously respect them and their sponsors, from seeing what they're putting into their skiing.

pro skiers are professional athletes, professional athletes make sacrifices, I wouldn't be opposed at all to pros getting drug tested.

there was NO sarcasm what so ever intended in my last post.

if you're not willing to work hard for something, you don't fucking deserve it. sacrifices are part of getting to the top.

i just about dedicated my life to my sports team in highschool, drinking was at a complete minimum during the season, pot not at all, and worst of all I had to sacrifice a lot of my ski season. i'm making up for some of that lost ski time this year and probably for the next 4-5 years or so livin in a ski town, but im so glad i gave my sport everything i had. it's an amazing feeling, and sharing that with your teamates is also amazing.

and seeing a professional skier apply that same work ethic? it gives me chills, it makes me happy, makes me stoked that someone else is dedicating their life to something they love. try dedicating yourself to something entirely and completely, you'll be glad you did no matter what the outcome.

so no, no sarcasm, i am not opposed to professional drug testing.

^ Thats a true statement, and the only thing you could say in deffense to that is that getting stoned out of their minds might help some pro skiers

well, from my point of view at least, I would loose almost all of my respect for a pro skier who needs to be stoned out of their mind to perform

Yah, but I think most of the top pros don't need that. In like the xgames when they show closeups of them before runs or whatever they seem pretty damn sober. But with peter you never know...

if skiing wants to become part of the olympics some things definately will have to change in the future.. as in every other professional sport, pro skiers at the big events should be drug tested in my opinion. they ´re supposed to be idols for lots of young kids out there. this could also be a point that skiing didn´t make it to vancouver2010. remember 1998 when the snowboard halfpipe winner was positive tested for marijuana..(or was it the guy finishing second? i don´t know exactly) but this wouldn´t show skiing in a good light.

i heard that jossi doesn't drink/smoke/do drugs, he is totally comitted to the sport and to be honest it shows, he's killing it this year.

I heard Simon Dumont does roids...how else could he get out of the pipe like that.

Simon is the Barry Bonds of skiing its true...they'll be investigating skiers for steroid use in like 2 years for sure.

i think your problem is that your relating the smoking and drinking in our sport to a lack of moral responsibility, other sports have plenty of it but they are done more under the table. I proud to be part of a sport that understands that we are all human, and does not treat smoking and drinking as a negitive. its part of our culture and allows for alot of the individual creative thinking that makes skiing so much fun. If you have a problem with that stick to ski racing

yes all major companies drug test and and they put smoke sensors in the jackets and clothes they give u that will alert the team manager even if it picks any form of smoke. hahahahaahahahahahahahahah

I'm sure that racers have used roids but freeskiiers? That I seriously doubt. I also agree with you that partying is part of the freeskiing scene, probably even an essential part. I was merely quoting what someone else had said about partying having a bad influence on upcoming skiers. I'm not against partying as a part of the pro skiing lifestyle, I'm against it becoming the pro skiing lifestyle.
